How cold is too cold for your dog?

I'm sure it depends on the breed as well as how fat the little fricker is...but in general?
I would think labs with a vest could do ice water and sub-freezing temps.
My GSP with a vest...questionable.

Bird dogs don't like the cold very much. Labs don't really get cold.

When my lab's feet start freezing to the log he's on it's too cold

I've camped out in single digits before. My lab slept curled up next to my sleeping bag and didn't even shiver. That said, our dogs always wear vests when hunting in anything below coolish temperatures.

if it was cold enough for my chessie to require a vest... it was too cold for me... and there is no such thing in LA as too cold for me....
from what I have seen over the years.... and breeds... Chessie frolic in what labs shiver in..... I saw a NS duck toller break ice and not flinch too.....
GSP don't mind running in the cold.. its the sitting still in the cold that gets em...
my GSP ran about 50 percent longer than he normally does.. when we made a hunt in the low 20s two years ago...

My lab was shivering a little bit last weekend and it was in the low 30's, he's kind of a puss though

Man, that is the dog I've been wanting for a few years. Don't know how good it can take our summer humidity/heat.

Yep, but they don't like sitting in the heat either...

It was 34 this morning and my chessie just looked frustrated with the slow morning. He jumped in the water and got him a drink as soon as I let the truck door open

My golden retriever had the water on her hair freezing one morning. Looked kinda funny with the ice all over her. I think it was around 20 degrees.
She shivers when its windy. Other than that, doesn't really matter how cold it is she's fine.

when she stops blinking cause her eye lids are frozen open.

I've never seen a lab that cares about the cold. They might be cold, but they really don't give a damn.

same as dogs do everywhere when it's hot and humid....
the one i saw was owned by a guy from Orlando FL.. so I am sure it handles heat fine..

Mine get cold, but I put a vest on and they do fine. I hunted them in IL a few years back and it was -12. When they would get back to the blind the water on them was alreay frozen to them and the ducks and geese were iced up. Didn't bother them in the least they just wanted to retrieve. Of course the blind we were in was heated and the dogs stayed in the blind with us between volleys.

was a guy in Va Beach in 88 that wanted to give me one....

Did you take the one he wanted to give you? I am seriously contemplating getting one. I know they have some in Florida.

My BMC shakes like a chihuahua if it gets below about 80 degrees.
He's a huge pussy about the cold.
