The root of the problem is some fans compare Miles to Saban and any other top five teams coaches (at any given time). These fans are called Negatigers. Positigers compare Miles to every coach in LSU history. We are an elite program so it seems natural to have this split in fans. It seems like a good problem to have. I am glad that the A.D. and Miles are not getting advice from message boards.

ETA: It is an argument that no one can win because it is really two totally different arguments.

I NEVER said there were not other great coaches but it is really "stupid" and naive to think why would they come to a place where people like you want to get rid of them with the resume Miles has had.

And what makes you think any one of the listed coaches would done any better. Each one has the same opportunity as Miles to win 14 games. As it was stated just "plain stupid"

He directly game day coaches us out of games costing us a shot at the NC (see Bama this year). The team almost won despite his game day coaching.

Have you watched Oklahoma, or Georgia, or Oregon, or more teams over the past 8 years? They can say the same thing. There are only two coaches right now that can say they HAVEN'T been outcoached a few games in those years that cost their team National Titles, and that is Saban and Meyer.

Miles is not Saban or Meyer, we all know that, but compare his record in big games to the other coaches that would be considered top ten coaches.

And no, with attrition, the NFL, and selfish acts by our own playeers, LSU has not had the best personnel each of those years as some pundits would like you to believe.

I never said I wanted to get rid of miles. I simply said those coaches COULD do a better job. The fact is we don't know. My point is that miles has enjoyed a level a talent that no other coach in lsu history has had and that I think many coaches could do just as good if not better than he has. He's a mediocre coach man no matter what record you post. His in game decisions and lack of ability to produce a consistently effecient offense with great talent proves that point.

This reminds me of 2002 Arkansas game when Saban settled for a field goal and then allowed back to back hail mary passes to cost us a trip to Atlanta.

Not taking up for Saban but their is a big difference between settling for a field goal and trying a fake field goal with 12 yards to go. Also trying a 54 yard field goal when your pk best is from 45 yards out.

I am not blaming Les for Bama's comeback score (although I do think the defense played to soft).
But the above referenced calls were really no brainers. You are going to have an occasional hail mary pass beat you---don't beat yourself with risks that have 5% chance of working especially when you are winning the line of scrimmage.

IMO we would benefit from a good offensive coordinator. Les is our coach and I support him 100%. He has proven to not be the best game day coach.

Wrong. Most FSU fans wanted Daddy Bowden out well before he left. Also, I don't think many if any LSU fans want to see Les fired but many think he should honor his contract without talking to other schools about employment (or having his agent hint at it).

Les does a good job of keeping LSU in the hunt. He also has a LOT of room for improvement making game time decisions (mostly on the offensive side of the ball). Take away the obvious blown calls by Les and 80% of the negative fans of CLM go away. Even with our success its hard to overlook some of our recent clock mismanagement, 4th down decisions and inablity to run crucial plays on time. I hope Les is around for a long time because it will mean that we are winning a lot of games.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The team overcame a 14-3 halftime deficit, to lead by 3 with 90 seconds on their own.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it was Chavis' defense that totally shut down Bama that second half and allowed LSU's offense breathing room to take the lead in that same half. But who, in those last 90 seconds, who? I ask, made the call to protect that puny 3 point lead by going soft/prevent/zone? Was it Chavis? Was it Miles? Does anybody know? Because I know in my heart that one choice in that one last series is what cost LSU that game and got Bama off the loser's bench and put Bama in the SECCG tomorrow.

For me it is:

1: His involvement in th offense. Get a solid proven OC and let him run the offense.

1a: The other is when his synapses start misfiring and he does some crazy shite or appears to not know what the hell is happening.

2012 Alabama

Yeah, I can see the case for it. Can you imagine how dominant this program would be had they gone the other way? 3 national titles and playing our way into a fourth. If these go the other way then Miles is undoubtedly the most accomplished football coach in the game today and the greatest in LSU history.

So close.

But I'm not really sure that anyone that's available would do any better or even get close.

I guess the Miles "haters", as you call them, would rather have Bama envy LSU.

Saban didn't always fair so well at LSU--
– In 2000, the Tigers went 8–4 and with several lopsided losses, including a 34–17 loss to the Auburn Tigers, a 13–10 loss to the UAB Blazers, and a 41–9 loss to the Florida Gators.
2001 – Saban led LSU to a 10–3 record, which included a loss to the Ole Miss Rebels.
2002 – The season opened with high expectations, but a 26–8 loss at the hands of Virginia Tech raised serious questions about their outlook. LSU lost four of its last six games to close the season, including a 35–20 loss to Texas in the Cotton Bowl Classic, and finished 8–5.
2003 – The Tigers won it all
2004 – LSU finished the season 9–3, after losing to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Capital One Bowl 30–25 on a final play touchdown pass. Other losses that season were on the road at Auburn 10–9, and a loss on the road to Georgia 45–16. At the end of the 2004 season, Saban left LSU to coach the Miami Dolphins.

I'm sure that getting that talent had nothing to do with Coach Miles, right? It's amazing to me that Coach Miles can be such a "terrible" coach and still recruit and compete against all these other "genius" coaches. How lucky can one man be? With limited scholarships, you'd think the other 20 or so better coaches would beat LSU every year--

Gentlemen, it's easier to criticize and deny genius and success, because you don't understand it, than it is to accept what you don't understand and enjoy the ride. We understood Saban-- who was less successful at LSU- so we accepted him. Coach Miles is an enigma-- we don't understand him- so we criticize or reject his success. And that us the root cause.
