At least some point in the season, LSU has been ranked in the top 5 every year since 2003. Now, I know that it is final rankings that "matter", but it says a lot about a program to be in the top 5 at some point year-in, year-out. Even in the "bad" years like 2008, LSU earned enough respect to make it in the preseason top 5 the next year - that says a lot about the program.

Championships (conference and national) require a lot of luck (in addition to talent and coaching), no one would deny that. The key is to be "in the hunt" every year and hope the chips fall where they may. LSU has done that and will continue to do that. LSU has been realistically in the National Title hunt walking into NOVEMBER every year except maybe 2004 and 2008 - I know the Official BCS thread has been relevant on Nov 1 year.

I am not going to argue our current coaching staff is perfect, but I am certainly wouldn't "rock a boat" that is in the top 5 EVERY YEAR.

Someone didn't read the whole post.

And of those 10 years, LSU finished in the top 5, all but 3 those 10 years. All but 2004 (Saban), 2008, 2009

And we blew it because our head coach couldn't put our real QB on the field.

SOME LSU fans are just miserable people and will never be happy when it comes to football.

That fits better. And it is the truth. Put the same people as Bama fans and they would have called for Saban's head for losing to Jordan Jefferson twice, and losing to aTm, blowing a 24-0 lead against Auburn at home, losing to ULM, etc.

I enjoy football. I honestly liked watching LSU when we weren't considered elite. It's a lose-lose situation for the fans. 7 of the games this year were "business wins." These are games where a lot of people don't enjoy them. If LSU wins, ok. If they win close, they get mad. If LSU loses, it's meltdown time.

I want to look at games the way Miles does. Everyone here was furious that we almost lost to Ole Miss. Miles realized that his team won, and that it was a fantastic game to watch for the fans. We are just too stupid to realize that sometimes.

Would NOT have mattered. LSU was NOT READY IN THAT GAME.

If lee plays in the bscncg lsu would have gotten beaten worse than they did. Lee had zero success vs. bama his whole time he was here.

This describes these fans perfectly. That was a hell of a game, but no one cares because we should have won by 40.

Another sad Miles statistic

LSU highest rank/ final poll
2005 #3 / #10
2006 #4 / #4
2007 #1 / #2
2008 #4 / unranked
2009 #4 / #13
2010 #5 / #11
2011 #1 / #1
2012 #2 / #7

Miles seems to fade at the end

I was in the stands, and I was miserable. My friends were next to me having a great time during the game and it hit me how freaking stupid I was.

GREAT POST.

To be HONEST.. LAST year was kind of BORING the way we destroyd everyone. I loved the fact that we won every game.... But we TOYED with people. But then it became CRUNCHTIME and this team was NOT READY. I like close exciting games.

THIS YEAR... BAMA is doing what WE did last year.

Another reason Miles is goofy, if he thinks I enjoyed that game better than any of the first 8 of last season. None of which were ever in doubt.
