Miles isn't asking for a raise at LSU.

That is not how this works.
Arkie has offered Les $5.5 million per year to go there. Now LSU has to decide whether they want Les to stay and whether keeping him is worth more than his current $3.75 annual salary.
LSU will offer him a raise for two reasons.
First, his current market value has now been established to be significantly higher than his LSU salary, by the genuine Arkie offer that is on the table.
Second, with this lucrative offer now in play, if LSU wants to keep him, it must demonstrate to him immediately, BEFORE HE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERS THE ARKIE OFFER, that they agree that his market value today is higher than his current salary.
To show good faith and high appreciation for him, LSU will agree to sweeten his contract, if he decides to stay here.
This is not Les Miles asking for a raise at LSU. This is LSU demonstrating how much it wants Miles to stay.
If LSU does not acknowledge that his market value is higher than his current salary, it does not show him respect, and that alone might cause Miles to more seriously entertain the Arkie job and/or other such offers in the near future.
The ball is squarely in Alleva's court first.
Then Miles will make his decision, based in part, on the level of respect shown to him by LSU.
Alleva and his staff had better show Les Miles today that they want him to retire at LSU, or he will be gone, whether it is to Arkansas now or to some other school very soon, because plenty of schools will gladly pay Les Miles $5+ million to make them perennial title contenders.
Les has proven his deep loyalty to LSU more than once. He does not ever want to leave.
But if he begins to receive considerably more respect from other schools than from LSU, he may reluctantly decide to do so.
LSU had better step up now and show Les Miles the same kind of loyaly he has shown LSU.
He's not perfect, but he is the best damn head football coach (and one of the finest men) we've ever had representing LSU, and I believe he will deliver us two more crystal footballs before he retires!

C'mon man....You know better than this.
Arkansas probably hasn't offered, and Miles probably will not ask for a raise but that isn't how this stuff works, and you know it.

What does this even mean? Les Miles has not commented about the Arkansas job, or done anything else to indicate interest in the job.

Tl;dr
Thanks for wasting your time though

It's really not, it's a statistical fact.

We know how it works. We don't need to give him a raise because Arky thinks he's worth 5.5 million.

Link to where Miles was ever offered the Michigan job?

Uh...What other schools can afford 5+ million to pay a coach? Maybe 3? If Les is smart he takes this deal. LSU will be fine without him.

Misleading statistic.

Perhaps if you are only talking about stats while at LSU.
But, LSU has had another coach who now has 3 national titles in his career and the possibility of a 4th.
Miles has 1 for his career.
So, it is debatable.

You're nuts....Les isn't worth the $4million he is making now. I would offer him a salary cut.

Just wanted to point out that we also lost to Kentucky, and Arkansas to go along with that 1.

Oh, I didn't realize you were a Bama fan. Bear was probably better by a hair, but carry on.
