I believe the NegaTigers all must be too young to see the change in coaching staffs can mean. Too many good programs have not been able to maintain the same level of performance when a coaching change is made. I have seen that happen at LSU and many other programs. There were too many lean years at LSU. We have been living the good life the last few years. Why would you want to chance rocking the boat? LSU faces one of the toughest schedules year in and year out and still Miles posts great records. We are usually in the hunt for the Natty. Miles needs to stay. Careful what you wish for.

Just for fun, If you comment, please state your age, mine is 55.

Im 43 and a blind man can see that win in spite of Miles at times. He is a good recruiter and a decent coach. By no means is he irreplaceable.

I am not a Nega Tiger however I am a big Nega Miles. Without Chavis this guy is dirt. Offense is ranked 75th or lower ... with our talent should be in the top 25.

I am 66 and do not wear diapers ... yet

The amount of idiots here is tremendous. Losing Miles could very well lead to disaster. For all your bitching about 10-2, what the frick would you do with something like the Tennessee disaster? Auburn? Arkansas?

If Les leaves right now, who are you going to fill that seat with? And don't go thinking it'll be a big name, because it wouldn't be. Letting Les leave would mean you don't want to pay top dollar; if Arkansas can outbid you, so will Auburn and Tennessee.
We'd be looking at trying to steal someone like La Tech's coach for maybe 1.5 mil, and we saw how that worked for Tennessee already.

Bingo. 90% of LSU's wins come by having more talent than their opponent. (24)

Your thread has been challenged and your theory about age disproved on the first page. I'm not young either.

I honestly don't know after Saban left I thought he was irreplaceable. We hired miles and won a championship. If we keep Chavis and Les miles leaves or Arkansas will still have winning seasons. At the same token it will be horrible for recruiting if he leaves and we lose some top recruits and have the possibility of competing with him for Louisiana recruits. So for that reason I want him to stay rather than him go to Arkansas.

That's just one aspect. 21 years old.

Turnover and lack of continuity gets you the football wilderness. Signed Aubie, Tennessee, Kentucky, Bama-pre Saban, etc.

People that talk about LSU's problems after firing Cholly Mac as a cautionary tale are completely incorrect as th situations are NOT analogous.

1) By the end of CM's tenure, LSU was an "okay" program, but certainly not among the "elite" programs as it is today.

2) In his last 5 years, LSU ended the season unranked in the coaches poll each season.

3) CM won the SEC championship all of ONE time during his career at LSU (yes, I know...Alabama).

Anyway, with that "cupboard", and the cheap-assed nature of LSU's PTB, it is not surprising that the 20 years after he left were "mixed" in terms of results. However, despite all that, LSU did have some success (1982 under Stovall, 1984-1988 under Arnsparger/Archer, 1995-1997 under Dinardo).

Once LSU really opened the checkbook (roots with Dinardo, but really picking up under Saban and then Miles), LSU's programs has, for the most part, florished. Unless LSU is about to go back to its miserly ways regarding its football program, replacing Miles will not involve 20 years in the wilderness as replacing CM has been portrayed.

Can "elite" programs go to shite after replacing big time coaches? Sure, but bear in mind that some of the examples given (Miami, Alabama) also had other reasons for their problems, namely the NCAA.

BTW...I am 44.

most of them probably are too young but some of them obviously have no clear understanding of the risks of miles leaving. a basic rule of life is don't frick with success. the young ones don't have a clue what happened to bama after the bear and then they got stallings and what happened after him. all they remember is saban. and all they know about LSU is saban and miles. success is all they know so they assume that any coach would come to LSU and be as successful or more so than miles. in short, THEY DON'T KNOW shite ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL AND HOW FRIGGIN' LUCKY YOU HAVE TO BE TO GET THE RIGHT COACH. get a curly hallman (who was uber successful as usm) and you get stuck with shite, expensive shite. and i'll bet a dime to a donut that NONE OF THESE POSTERS GIVE A DAMN NICKEL TO TAF AND NONE WOULD PONY UP A CENT IF LSU MADE THE WRONG HIRE.

Which equal of Urban Meyer will we be able to hire this year? And look at his competition by the way. Still get his arse handed to him in the SEC IMO. That's the reason he left. He was too scared of the competition.

he needs to hire an OC and let him coach. If he did that I would not have anything to complain about.

I remember the Archer and Hallman years.
