You can't seriously be mad at Miles

If, in fact, he is seeking a raise, then that's business. He's parlaying an offer from another school to benefit his bottom line. He'd be an idiot not to do this. This is business. If somebody believes he is worth that kind of cash, and he has the opportunity to get it, why not leverage it for a raise? Seriously, this isn't any new thing or any sort of treasonous act. Dude is looking out for himself and his family. Whether or not he gets a raise, I think he's a fool if he doesn't use this to his advantage. That's business.

Yes, because I hear the Miles family is dumpster diving.
I could live off 6 months of his pay for the rest of my life.

Anyone... ANYONE who gets offered a higher paying job but likes their current one would go to their current employer and use the offer to try and get a raise.
If you don't get the raise then you may just stay anyway, but it is always worth a try.

Supply and demand - it will work if Les knows there is a demand for him and the administration knows that there is not enough in the supply line to replace him and come out ahead.
Why blame him? He is not in this for Philanthropy?

If this is a business then I think LSU should play hardball. I want Miles here but the terms have to be mutual. As good as Miles is, I don't think he has the leverage that he thinks he does.

I don't think he seriously would consider moving to Fayetville. LSU should not have offered a raise.

How do you know that? For all you know, he may be another John L Smith.

So this is a reason not to take a better offer? Hell, this is America...it used to be...where you can earn as much as you can. Also, shite happens...catastrophic events can happen.....I see absolutely no basis to sell yourself short because other people think you have enough.

And that same employer is perfectly free to say "no," or, "frick you, you disloyal shite."

Did you read the last part of my post? Because I said that part. The company doesn't have to accept your bid for a raise, they can say no.
Being loyal to your company over yourself and your family is stupid. Nobody in their right mind lives that way.

... just for those clowns who apparently cant do arithmetic and just want to make BS 1%-er comments about career paths :
- Rounding off , CLM makes about $4,000,000 per year
- "six months" of that salary = $2,000,000.
... now, if you can't "retire" decently on that , GFY ...
