Help Needed with GIMP

I am using the Gimp software and I really don't know how to do it

You can do it by adjusting the opacity in the layers box.

Okay using gimp how am I am to put images inside borders/other images like these ????

im starting out on GIMP too. starting with smudge Any tips on cutting out backgrounds

select the white part, switch to layer with the image you want to cut, and make a layer mask, the image will appear to be inside. easy as pie

RonFNSwanson's way is probably easier - just focus on layers. I usually select (in this case using fuzzy select tool) the area I want to remove
and cut/delete it - you'll see checkerboard where it will be invisible.


Then you can copy, scale if needed, and paste the layer on your desired image.

Cleaning the white "wisp" leftover from jpg source is another matter altogether

Okay I have gotten through the transparency part and the overlaying images the last thing is how do I add Text???

In the toolbox there is a button for adding text. Then you just add a text box and type. You can change the fonts and colors.

I don't know if I'd go that far ... there are a couple things I think I could/need to fix but hey thanks anyway
