They are nice rifles.

As for the caliber, My two years of experience with the .25-06 were not good at all. I'm pretty sure it was the ammo, but I only had one exit. Very fun caliber to shoot though.

I was shooting 117 hornady SST's. Please try something else and be careful when buying ammo because there's lots of varmint loads on the shelves.

My dad has an encore that I absolutely love. As flat shooting as ot gets. The only reason I didn't go that route is I didnt want a single shot.

I went with the TC venture. Took it out for the first time last weekend and laid two down. I am very very pleased with it.

Yeah, single shot is the only drawback I see. What caliber is your Venture?

And single shot isn't really a drawback. You can make some good shots when it's in the back of your mind that it's the only one you got.

ETA: And the two encores I've shot were some great shooters. The one in .243 was just a complete blast. I shot a whole box of bullets just checking to see if it was sighted in at beer cans and shite

Exactly. I've been reading about the 25-06 Caliber, and it seems like an awesome shell in 115 Nosler, whatever the hell that means. Low Recoil, fast, long renge, and deadly.

Both his and mine are 7mm.

My dad says the same thing about knowingyou only have one. I'll stick with having a few back ups.

The other one I shot was a 7mag. It was accurate, but nowhere close to "fun" to shoot. That damn thing was abusive.

I have one in 35 Whelen. They're supposedly not really accurate from the factory shooting 200 grains, but I bought the TC Pro Hunter frame, a Bergara barrel, and an adjustable hinge pin and it's accurate as hell. It's feel really good when you're shouldering it. Can't wait til "primitive" weapon season.

The fun comes when you walk up to your dead critter.

How far does your hunting experience go? This is sending the wrong messages to me.

Nosler is a brand that makes bullets and 115 is the weigh of the bullet, 115 grains.

You also stress low recoil. I think recoil matters nil when hunting. You don't even feel it. If you're worried about the scope hitting your face then you're not shooting your rifle correctly.

I would go 30-06 over 25-06 because you are much more likely to get an exit wound and have a blood trail to follow.

But, to not stray too far off topic, my dad has a TC Encore muzzleloader in .50. The biggest deer he ever killed was shot at 212 yards with it and dropped the bastard. They are great rifles.

That's funny. My dad has one in .50 ML and his biggest buck was shot at over 200 with it. Long lost brothers?

I have the regular T/C Encore in .308. It's a very nice and plenty accurate.

.25-06 is a fine caliber for deer. I also have a .257 wby mag and the only deer I shot with it dropped in it's tracks. I'm not a deer hunter so I don't hunt that much.

Have no experience with the 25-06 but my 30-06 pro hunter is a tack driver.

I have the TC Pro Hunter in 7mm-08 and love the gun. I bought it last year, and have killed two deer with it so far. My FIL has the 25-06 and he has put down quite a few with his. Definately a good gun.

My only concern is that it is particular on what ammunition it takes. So far, I have found that Federal Fusions shoot the best out of it. I shoot Hornady's in everything else, but in the TC, I could not get a good group to save my life. FIL found the plastic tip bullets did not work well in his.
