There is a Hendrix quote in which Jimi is asked how it feels to be the best guitarist ever. He replied...
"I don't know, ask Rory Gallagher."

Eerily eerily similar. Feels like listening to unreleased Jimi tunes.

Rory was an amazing artist that WAY more people should have an appreciation for.

Love Rory, especially Million Miles Away.

But I think Trower has more of a white Jimi thing going on.

love some Rory, have most all he ever did

the quote thing is pure urban legend though. In fact the same alleged quote from Hendrix on a talk show has been applied to several guitarists, most prominently Phil Keaggy. He did give Billy Gibbons some love on the Dick Cavett show but nothing like he's the greatest.

Here's a few hours of him at Montreux in different years-

Both were incredible, no doubt about that.

This quote pops up all over the place. Insert any two guitarists. First time I heard it Jimi said Pete Townsend.

Bought his Live in Europe '72 album when it was first released (and, thereafter, Blueprints). Brilliant guitarist. Just never got the proper acclaim in the U.S.

Didn't know about the urban legend stuff, but I literally freaked when I first heard 'Keychain' thought it was Hendrix' voice and Strat squeak and style . I'm jus glad that someone else knows who he is!

Rory Gallagher was a great one...used to listen to him a lot in the early-mid 70's.
