Moscona made a good point yesterday about the 2012 season

He said he has no problem with people being disappointed over a 10-2 season and people should keep their expectations high because the moment fans get complacent is when things go south. In essence, it is better to be disappointed in a 10-2 season than be happy for a 9 win season. Good point Matt.

Fans don't play games, so no.

I realize this is the internet, and everything is based in extreme shades of black and white, but I often find myself wondering why there isn't a third option. Somewhere in between "We didn't win a championship, and if you settle for less you're a pussy loser" and "I remember when Curly was coach, so 8+ wins is all anybody needs".

How about "Damn it sucks we were so close to playing for a NC and we couldn't quite close the deal, and that's disappointing, but I'm still proud to be a fan of a 10 win team that's better than most"

Is that not possible?

To put it in proper context, Muscona said this after he bragged about what a great job Miles and his staff did this year considering the difficulties they faced and stated that fans expectations here are exceptionally high and somewhat unfair.

I rarely listen to Muscona so I don't have much of an opinion of him but I find it kind of funny how people on these boards react to one statement made that is out of context or completely fabricated.

I imagine this is where most rest on the scale. Of course, even this will get you labeled as a "sunshine pumping bitch who doesn't want the team to be successful" around here.

Right on brother! I used to believe the people on this site represented the beliefs of the fanbase as a whole. Not any longer. This place has become a home for extremists on each side of the Les Miles fence.

naw. i use the rant as a case study for psychology. right now about 10% of the posters are negative (but, they post about 50% of the total.)
10% are extremely positive and the bell curve shows the 80% left fall in the middle of informed logical realists.

also, remember, the same % of psychotics in society post here (unrealistic expectations.) the majority of the negative posters have serious problems w/ depression.

Is it just me or does Matt use a lot of very big words that most people in his audience have no idea what they mean? Is he showing off his vocabulary? I listen to a lot of talk radio (Howard stern, Limbaugh, Dan Patrick ect) and none of them speak at a level that's way above the audiences level.
