4 to 1 gin to vermouth at a minimum. 3 to 1 if I have my druthers.

Two to one gin to vermouth. No olive juice. What's everyone got against vermouth?

Also, if your vermouth has been sitting in the back of your liquor cabinet for 3 years....it's bad. It's a fortified wine, and will sour over time. Should be kept in the fridge.

I have no idea. As I've stated before a shot of ice cold gin or vodka does not a martini make.

1/4 oz, swirled around the glass then dumped. Or, if you have a mist sprayer, one spritz in the glass.

this, or two spritzes if the first one is a little light. gin is mandatory, however.

I've tried it all sorts of ways. My preference:

No vermouth
1 olive
2 drops of this stuff:

One bottle of Angostura will last you 10 years. Does not require refrigeration.

I'm pursuing my lifelong quest for the perfect, the absolutely driest martini to be found in this or any other world. And I think I may have hit upon the perfect formula. You pour six jiggers of gin, and you drink it while staring at a picture of Lorenzo Schwartz, the inventor of vermouth
