Many of you seem to be against it simply for the matchup against Clemson. Others for the city?

I'm asking those who don't like the matchup against Clemson, why so many of you seem to like the idea of a matchup against Texas in the Cotton.

Do you people realize that Texas sucks? Have you watched their games?

actually the chikfila bowl is a pretty good one. it on espn so it gets the espn hype and it is the only decent bowl game on in that timeslot. i don't like going 10-2 and dropping that far, but it's not terrible.

Yes.

If you don't like playing Clemson because they are a shitty team, why would you like Texas. They are also a shitty team. I think Clemson is better opponent. I'm interested in watching us beat the better team.

It is the ONLY bowl that night.

it's perceived as a lesser bowl, and thus disrespectful to a team that has been in the title race all year.

We have nothing to prove by beating them. They got wracked by South Carolina a team we already beat. We prove nothing playing them. Texas is a team I've always couldn't stand and I'm pissed they beat us in 2002. They might not be having a good year but it means more to crush Texas in Dallas than to beat Clemson in the who gives a shite bowl

Last time I checked, Sam Montgomery came from South Carolina! We recruit there to!

Clemson is boring as shite.

Talk about a bowl matchup with ZERO buzz or national interest at all. No one outside of Louisiana or half of South Carolina would watch.

Texas? Whacking them on national TV is worth the bus ride over, at least.

So the consensus has changed from:

"I don't want to play them because they suck"

to:

"I don't want to play them because I just don't want to"

That is what I've taken from this thread.

Which is pretty much the rest of the field if not a BCS bowl. Might be a good time to watch "The Notebook".

I think people don't like the idea of the Chick-Fil-A bowl because they've been to that damn place a few to many times...

Wouldn't mind something different. Wouldn't mind Texas.

Edit: OK maybe the Cotton isn't a good example of different

I think we should decline all bowls except the BCSNCG. All or nothing. I mean why play in any bowl but that one, right?

Dallas >>>>>>> Atlanta

Jerry World >>>>>>> Georgia Dome

Avenge the last loss to Texas.

Closer drive for me.

Not New Years eve.

See, I won't be attending so these don't matter to me personally. But I get where you are coming from because I agree on both of those comments.

I like NYE bowl games actually. Much more than new years day. Avenging a loss is fun, but that was a decade ago; talk about holding a grudge

I just moved from Atlanta. I can tell you that the city really has very little to offer in terms of atmosphere. There's no real vibe to the city of Atlanta. It's pretty, it's fairly clean, yada, yada, yada. The chick-fil-a bowl has no clout either. It's a dead end bowl really. Couple that with the lack of atmosphere and you've got yourself a real dud. While the Cotton Bowl may not be all that either, its history is much better than that of the chick-fil-a and it's played at a better time as well.
