Johnny Cash - Hurt

With the video, hard not to shed a tear - one of the most honest sounding songs ever recorded, IMO.

A fitting way to the end.

So honest

Just the thread name made me instantly think of Hurt. Did you just recently discover this video?

Derek and the Dominos - Little Wing

Way more emotion in this song than the original Hendrix recording. Clapton and Duane are magical.

Little Wing is a great one - I just thought of Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower as better than Dylan - love that song

I'd honestly say this may be a better one by Cash

Did you ever listen to the Rusty Cage on KLSU? I always loved the intro in that started with Cash's version and flowed back and forth into Soundgardens - used to love listening to Acid Bath and Crowbar and all the metal on the Rusty Cage in the 90s - is that still around?

Ronnie James Dio & Yngwie Malmsteen - Dream On

Ben Harper - Sexual Healing

HSAS - Whiter Shade of Pale

This has to be in the running, if for no other reason than Prince's unbelievable shredding for the last 3 minutes of the song (starting at 3:28).

While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Rock 'n' Roll Fame Induction

Not the best cover ever, but I like this quite a bit. I'm not an Elton John fan, so saying that this is better than the original for me is easy..but this is badass IMHO.

They do, but personally I am partial to the original.

ETA - that said, both are excellent tracks
