Well, even "responsible" dog hunters don't want to offer an option to alleviate the problem. They're just giving a dwi. If they don't want to address it, fine. But it's just gonna make it worse, if they can't help find a solution and work with other hunters on the problem.

So they shouldn't be allowed to do it even on their own place because it messes up your quietness?

I never once stated that I have the right to hunt on others land..what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Thy listen to me about as well as they listen to you.

Not what I said. He asked why it pisses people off. I gave my reason. I will also add that I think it makes the deer even more skittish.

The reason why it should be banned is that there is no way to control where your dogs go (or at least no way that people actually use). Dog hunters gave themselves the bad name.

No large group hates coon hunters, squirrel hunters, rabbit, quail, pheasant, etc, because those hunters do not usually let their dogs trespass on others land and ruin their hunts. Dog deer hunters have historically done this.

So help find a way to fix it. Saying dwi isn't going to make the problem go away, and it certainly isn't going to endear other hunters to your side of the sport. It's doing nothing but creating a backlash, and will hasten the demise of dog hunting.

Just go to a park. Those are peaceful and quiet, my purpose in hunting is to kill something, not listen to songbirds or watch squirrels

And that is the attitude that will destroy your sport.

It doesn't make them more skittish. A couple dogs barking bothers a deer much less than a four wheeler engine. I see deer going about their business normally while dogs are running all the time. I never see them doing this when a four wheeler cranks up within earshot.

You can control where your dogs go by selecting what dogs you use, where you use them, and how you use them. It isn't difficult to keep 5 beagles on 500 acres.

Comments like this is what gives dogs runners a bad name seems like all we are out for is blood. I respect decons right to enjoy a quite calm morning of hunting, heck I enjoy it too. We just need to get the trash out of the sport and find common ground. I chip my dogs already and wouldnt have any problem registering them wildlife and fisheries.

On top of the dog tax, there could be a pet usage fee assessed on hunting properties as well for clubs that allow dog hunting

This is still the one that gets me. It starts off with keep your dogs off my place and I understand this arguement. But for you to want to tax people to hunt the way they want to hunt, in their own lease, is nuts. Then when its decided to tax you per stand or gun to still hunt, youd be the first one on here bitching and saying its not fair. Get a grip people and let people do what the hell they want to do if its within the law and on their own property.

They'd still get to. It'd just discourage those who don't respect the law as it is, and it would make landowners responsible for the people they lease to.

The most underlying point that is missed though, is this.... If dog hunters don't start trying to find a solution to the problem, and work with non dog hunters, they're going to end up with some restrictions or even complete bans on what they hold dearly.

Respect what law, the BS you made up. What you wrote there did nothing to address the prob of dogs on other peoples property. Just how to fine/tax those that do it on their own. Common man. The attitude of its not what I like to do so its wrong is fd up

downshift you are definitely in the minority. i have seen firsthand what goes on in the basin between benoit and the river. bunch of yahoos and democrats.

dog hunting is more popular here than still hunting.

taking their dogs would be like trying to take our guns. not gonna happen without a fight.

Didnt use to care one way or the other but now that I have been dog hunting I think that its a blast ande to each his own.

And those saying its a dieing way of hunting. that is true and why dog hunting plus many of the other
traditions we are losing should be carried on!

I do agree with OP about keeping them on your property to the best of your ability. shouldnt dog hunt a small property if you cant control them.the clubs here are big and most dog hunt

I want to ban feeders. The neighbor puts out tons of feeders and it makes my deer nocturnal. We should tax his feeders.
