I had lunch today with my wife in BR at a well known restaurant. 4 older gentlemen (60's) dressed in slacks with Auburn logo collared shirts were meeting with a 5th gentlemen. The 5th was also in his 60s, but dressed in slacks with a sports coat. They were sitting at a table far away from the other customers. I did not recognize any of them. The 4 left together in what appeared to be a rental vehicle. Struck both my wife and I as odd (4 older guys in slacks wearing nice , collared, Auburn shirts in B R on a Monday). All I could think of was that it was a money meeting to pool some resources or a meeting with an agent? Auburn peeps , do y'all have any big alums in B R ? Not flaming , just a group that stuck out because of their age/attire. Even my wife asked if they were here "recruiting" someone.

Well most Auburn fans posted earlier this year that they wouldn't trade Chizik for Miles, so it can't be that.

I am not suggesting that it is anyone associated with the current LSU staff. Reps fly all over to meet agents/interview prospects. Sometimes the meetings occur at innocuous places or central locations. It just struck both of us as "out of place " for BR on a Monday when nothing Auburn / SEC related is going on here. Maybe they were local residents who were happy over the termination and sported their support for the decision by wearing their Auburn gear.

really?

Is BR some podunk town?

I ask bec it could be a million tings not related to football.

I was in New Orleans once on vacation and as I checked into the hotel, wearing my AU football polo, navy blue shorts, and my AU visor, the young black bellhop asked me which player I was in town to meet and see play. He thought I was a coach or scout on a recruiting visit.

The only answer is TJ Ribs if its involving a coaching change rumor.

I cann't see it being related to any possible coaching hire, as that stuff is always done in secret, i.e. not wearing AU shirts in a group in a large restaurant.

You are correct.

This is what made the coaching changes board great: Secret meetings, airport watching, dirty agents pumping up coaches for every job opening, misdirection plays when dealing with the public, paranoia, speculation, excitement, more paranoia, more backroom smoke filled room type negotiations only to find out everyone was wrong in the first place. Ah, the good ole days.
Not all this, "Official Arkansas/UT/UK/AU coaching thread", crap. It's like amateur hour these days.

Again, I made the post as an advisement of what I observed and a question to see if it could possibly be related to the coaching vacancy. I have also checked into hotels and gone out to eat in my LSU gear. I have not done so with three other men, all of whom were wearing identical gear, for non sporting events while meeting with a 5th man dressed in casual business clothes. Again, the entire scene struck us as odd for a Monday in B R when nothing Auburn/SEC related is going in in town.

My Auburn friends wear that AU shite 24/7. Honestly, I played golf with a good buddy of mine last week and that fool wore Auburn golf shoes, had an AU bag and AU club covers, wore his bright organge AU wind-breaker and a damn AU cap. I just looked at him and .

Meanwhile my alma matre is sitting at #2 in the country, getting primed to play in the SECCG and may make it to it's 3rd BCSCG in 4 years, and the only way he'd know I was a UA fan/alum is to look at the credit card in my wallet.

The 5th was not a current/former LSU coach/asst coach. I am a huge LSU fan and am familiar with most of the coaches ER have had over the last 20 -30 years. I did not recognize him and he did not have on any clothes containing insignia. He had on a dark blue sports coat, white shirt and dark green slacks. (casual business clothes ). The other four all wore khakis with the exact same shirt sleeve orange Auburn shirt. (golf style with some blue near the sleeve. I am not familiar with Auburns AD staff, Board members or boosters. Again, the scene seemed a bit out of place considering the locale and date.
