fill me in on what that's about and do you have to play it online?

from everyone I have ever talked to that loves the Persona series, this is how they describe it:

The Persona series is the pinnacle of RPGs, there is so much to do in the game that you will find yourself at 100+ hours and not even halfway through the game. The game is fully immersive and has one of the most loyal fanbases of any other game in existence, so by getting the special edition copy, and un-opening it, you are preparing for a huge price spike when the 10k ONLY created games become extremely rare and the extremely loyal fanbase really REALLY want the solid gold edition..

So in essence, I have bought a game, that I'm not playing, I'm hoping to resale it for a good profit.

that being said, I'll probably go buy my own copy sometime in the near future.

Haha it is extremely nerdy, and I normally stay away from ultra japanesey type games.

That all being said, I have been playing the hell out of Persona 4. It really depends on if you like the RPG genre. It is a great RPG.

There are a lot of other great games on vita. Gravity Rush is another "adventure/action" type game that doesnt need online. If you like sports, MLB the Show is a great game to travel with. I play it on the plane quite a bit. Also Hot Shots golf (while it looks cartoony it has great golf physics etc)

It depends based on the game, but in Persona 4, here's the rundown.

You are a Japanese high school student who has to move to the countryside to live with his uncle because your parents are traveling. You spend an entire school year in tiny town called Inaba. Not long after your arrival, a string of murders breaks out in the town in a very public way. At the same time, there's rumors of a 'Midnight Channel' where you if watch on a rainy day at midnight, someone will appear on the screen.

After while, you realize that the people who appear on the screen turn out to be found dead shortly after.

At this point it turns into a murder mystery. You have an incredible amount of freedom though. You go through literal days of school. You have hang out with friends (referred to as Social Links), work part-time, study, eat, fish, play sports, etc. Each of these choices is beneficial to your character not only for story and character development but they tie Social Links to your Personas which are used to fight.

If you level up your Magician Social Link (one of your best friends in the game), you're able to create more powerful personas of that type and when you do, you get bonuses. It's all tied together.

Lastly, for the gameplay and online segment, it's a turn based battle system with twists. Turn order is determined by overall agility, but you're able to extend turns by uses an enemies weakness (getting an additional to attack for using fire against an enemy who's weak to it). They go into a knocked down/weak state after this, and if you do it to all of the enemies, then you have the option to turn it into a free for all and all of the party members charge in to deal big time damage to all the enemies. The online interaction is limited, but you can see what choices other people made at that point (ex. What people did on the afternoon of 5/11) and in battle, you can SoS for help. When doing so, an notice will appear to everyone in the dungeon so that they can 'send aid'. That will provide a nice boost to your HP and SP before the start of the battle.

Yes, it's super nerdy. But even if you don't really like this type of game, it's still worth a shot because of how good it is.

Of course, take my words with a grain of salt here since I love Japanese games. Spent over 100 hours beating Persona 3.

It definitely fits that billing. Because of the day format, you find yourself saying "I'll stop after just one more day...".

It's also super long. Easily an 70-80 hour game if you want to get anything out of the game.

Do what'd you like. Here's a nice video review. LINK

It's definitely unique and not for everyone.

Some more video for thought. It's just a general trailer with all the high scores it got. I'm far too lazy to go through and find all of them for you.

Anyone play Street Fighter X Tekken? I really wanted a Tekken fix so I impulse bought it. Wow am I terrible at Street fighter mechanics. Although I actually do well until I fight that Bison dude. Guy destroys me.

Kinda a disappointing game so far. I really hope Tekken x Street Fighter comes out next year.

Is there online fighting? That's fun as frick. Until you fight someone who is a combo master. Then it's not very fun.

What on earth are you purchasing?!

Rayman: Origins is fun as crap
Virtua Tennis and Hot Shot Golf are really good for your sporting needs
Ragnorok Online is a really good RPG style game, with online play

Dungeon Hunter is horrible.

Ninja Gaiden is what it is. It's a port of a remake of a remake of a game released 8 years ago. I still enjoyed it though. Its steep difficulty isn't for everyone though.

I'm surprised you hated LittleBigPlanet. It's pretty much fun personified.

Metal Gear Solid isn't for everyone, but it's a super popular series that a lot of people love. Surprised you didn't give more a chance considering its the champion of the stealth action genre.

For you, I'd look into Unit 13 (there's a demo) and see if you like it. I heard some good things about it. I'd also give Gravity Rush a chance. While probably not catered towards you, it's very good.

Yeah I would have kinda assumed those games sucked... you kinda got the worst of list of games.. lol, try rayman if you didn't like littlebig planet, I can't stand the airy controls of LBP, but love rayman cause it's old school plate former physics.

it really just sounds like you like the FPS genre, and that's it pretty much? In that case, a handheld in general is probably not the right place for you to be, handhelds are all about the platforming and RPG fans for the most part.

ETA: That being said, the VITA will be the only handheld with FPSs on it, I never see the 3DS actually getting good FPS games.
