To geaux... go to pcpartpicker.com and pick out a CPU or motherboard and it will automatically bring up the compatible parts

There's no point in getting in APU if you're going to update to a video card.

Okay..
The card APU you are getting is not compatible with a 7700 or 6700 GPU. You have to get a 7600 or 6600 series GPU for hybrid CFx to work.
My whole point about why you are getting an APU in the first place and not just a CPU. You can use the 7700 you purchased for now until you get something better.

The thing is, the GPU he has now.. which he plans to CFx the APU with is not compatible. Not sure he understands that it won't work and he should just get a CPU like we all have been suggesting.

Sorry it is nice but you will not be able to overclock and that board is sort of crap.
If you want to stay under budget, get a Socket AM3+ and FX-4300 CPU.. be done with it.
You can overclock that easily to 4.5GHz on air.

Geaux are you going to be overclocking? If not then the processor is fine, just try to get a better board

MOBO - ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP
You won't be overclocking so you don't need an unlocked processor or a Z77 motherboard
RAM - founnd the cheapest 2x4gb 1600 on there that's 1.5v
Video Card - Gigabyte 2gb 7850 is a beast of a card and you will be playing all games on ULTRA (except on some games you'll have to turn some stuff down)
