Why would Saban leave to coach in Dallas?

First you must look at why he went to Alabama. I have often wondered why Nick Saban decided to coach at Alabama. He could have gone to a number of schools to coach and would have been successful at any of them.
I believe Saban wnated to coach at Alabama to surpass the most ledgendary coach of all time Bear Bryant. By surpassing Bear Bryant he secures his legacy as the greatest college coach of all time and he did it at the same school Bear Bryant coached.
Cocky? Yes, but it is Saban we are talking about.
Fast forward to now. When Alabama wins the NCG this year, he will go to Dallas for the same reasons he went to Alabama. After all, Dallas is the self-proclaimed "Americas Team" and has had a long list of legendary coaches, Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson.
It's not money but a drive to be the best that motivates Nick Saban.

meh, Saban wanted to get back in college, preferably in the SEC. He would have went to any top-notch SEC school. Arkansas, Tenn, UGA, LSU, Florida, Bama. Didn't matter which one. Bama just happened to have the opening, persistence, and checkbook at the right time.
He has already stated he made a mistake leaving LSU. I doubt we see him make that mistake again.

First let me say that Saban is going nowhere...but..
THIS is what drives men like him...he has all the money he wants..its the quest to conquer the next challenge....
he failed in the NFL before...that deep down drives him bonkers...
I read his book and have seen him speak both as LSU and Alabama HC.. he does not preach wins and losses, he preaches perfection on every snap...the quest for perfection will ultimately lead to wins...
IF he goes to the NFL..it has zero to do with money and everything to do with imprinting his legacy on a NFL franchise and being considered the greatest football coach ever...college or pro...

I don't think saban liked the enviroment of not being able to rule like a dictator and exploit competitive advantages like more money, better facilities, easier recruiting, etc.

Jimmy Johnson may not be a legendary coach, but he's done something only 2 coaches have ever done, win a NC and Super Bowl. And he really should be the only one, as Barry Switzer just had to not screw up the '95 Dallas team. I give more credit to JJ than Switzer for '95. I think he could've been a legendary NFL coach if he stuck out Dallas a couple more years.
Saban may want to prove that he can coach in the NFL again because of his ego, but he has a damn good job right now being the king of all college. I think Les would go to the NFL before Saban would go back, imo.

I forget the name of this delusion. Im away from the computer atm, but i will look it up.
I'm curious, after you voice these fantasies how long are you comforted by the delusion before you get that empty feeling and have to seek more assurance from other fantasies?

Remember that Saban while he was at Miami wanted to Drew Brees as QB. The Dolphin Medical staff would not clear Brees for the hire. This is the kind of stuff that drives Saban mad. He has to have control of the operation.
His success hinges on ALL aspects of the operation buying into his philosophy. Pro players would just laugh at him. He runs his program like a CEO. The NFL players are unionized and conduct themselves accordingly.
Saban may secretly desire the challenge or returning to the NFL, but he is too smart to know in which venue that he would add value.

NFL Films called them that not the Cowboys themselves.
Saban would not succeed in Dallas because he won't have a talent gap, look at MSU and Miami.
Legendary coaches want to be at legendary places, so he is set at Bama.

Switzer did a great job in 94 and 95. His 94 team was more managing. The Cowboys were losing players (Norton, Stepnoski, Harper, and others) and he took a team and replaced them then got them to NFCCG and won a SB.

eh, he could go to the NFL, go 3-29 in two seasons, and then get hired as the HC for the best college job available the next year without even interviewing. If he wanted to try his hand at the NFL again (not saying he does), it would not hurt his college stock one bit to fail there.

I don't see saban leaving bama where he has complete control then going to that circus in dallas with Jerry Jones and the type of egos he will have to deal with in Dallas. I can see Saban going back to the NFL but I don't see the Cowboys working well for him.

FALSE
$aban when asked by Brees directly if he wanted him on the team, said he had to defer to the docs. Brees asked again, DO You want me on the team? Saban did not answer. Brees said he knew at that moment, regardless of medical opinions, saban himself did not want him.
Yes it was $abans decision to make and he made the wrong one.

I agree now Cleveland on the other had might be a different story.

Not Cleveland. Maybe Philly will go after him. But again, I do not believe Saban will go back to the NFL soon.

I don't see Saban fitting in with a northeast crowd. I think Cleveland would be a good fit for him but would someone leave Alabama to take the Browns job.
