That was a Team Full of Grown-arse Men!

This isn't meant to condemn our team as a whole or praise the 49ers as the second coming of the 85 Bears, but damn that is one tough, physical football team. It's like watching the SEC vs. the Big 12.
Now I'm not saying our style can't win (we have a Super Bowl to prove otherwise), but even during that season we had an edge about us, a toughness. And I know injuries, suspensions, Drew's decisions, etc also played a big part in the game, but damn those guys beat our dicks into the dirt physically each time we play them.
Every person on that D hits harder than anyone on our team. I wish they were in the AFC because the Smiths, Bowman, and Whitner might be my favorite defensive players in the NFL. I remember when we used to have enforcers like that.
Again, not saying the finesse style can't work, but I also tend to prefer the old-school days of physically defeating your opponent. People can talk about Drew's picks and Payton being out, but damn how many guys have those dudes knocked out in the past 2 games we played em?
O and Kaepernick's ceiling is right there with RG3. I firmly believe that.

Should've kept reading you worthless dumbass. If you can't see the similarities in styles then I fear for the world if you ever reproduce.

Nope. Go frick yourself. "Finesse style" like the New Orleans saints has won quite a few superbowls in the NFL in the last decade. The 49ers have not.

49ers are a good tackling team.
Saints are not.
That did go a long ways in deciding a victor yesterday.
Drew pick 6's was the nails in the coffin.

One thing I would kill to see improvement on.

My thoughts from another thread.
quote:
San Fran is a physical team with a lot of talent and they are focused this year and have confidence. I really think they are overall one of, if not the, beat team in the NFL this year. They definitely have a Clubber Lang vibe.
We are pretty much the opposite. Big plays on offense. Some talent, but mostly overachievers. And as much as I hate to say it, we're kinda soft, especially on defense.
It kind of reminds me of Nebraska vs. Florida in 1996. A speed team vs a pounding team. With the changes in the NFL, we can be that type of team, but the big bad defenses of the league (49ers, Ravens & Steelers) will always be tough to beat. Today just wasn't our day.

You must have missed the part where I said I'm not saying our style can't win and we have a Super Bowl to prove it.
Sorry, I realize comprehension might not be your strong point.

This post isnt meant to condemn all posters who relate NCAA and NFL football to each other, but damn the NFL is just nothing like the NCAA. Reading your post was like reading the babbling spew of an infnats alphabet soup puke.
Now I'm not saying you're a bad poster. I mean posts like yours can be good sometimes. But comparing two teams in the NFL to entire conferences isn't the best way to go.
I mean yes sometimes those comparison's can be good, but really they arent anything alike and posts where you leave the NCAA out of the NFL when comparing teams and play styles is just a stronger post.
Do you think i could have worded that better to get my point accross?

I love how almost no one is mentioning the offensive line. They were absolutely humiliated yesterday. Now, I didn't expect William Robinson to come in and dominate, but Bushrod and De La Puente were absolutely atrocious.
While I do agree with your post to an extent, you won't see that here. Next, we need some new outside Linebackers and someone on the line, aside from Cameron Jordan.

Their defense is just good.
The are big, strong, and fast. Ahmad Brooks out ran our entire offense on his pick 6 and he looked like he weighs a good 270.
However, we could have easily won had we not thrown the 1st pick six. It changed the whole complexion of the game and it seemed like the majority of the fans were mentally were defeated after it happened.
Their defense needs to be exposed with vertical passing - their secondary is average. We took advantage last year, and we should've done the same this year.
The problem is we freaked out too early and became one dimensional and their GREAT pass rush over-whelmed us. We missed Payton's play calling yesterday. Where were the draws and screens to slow down the rush? PT needs 2 screen passes every game.

We matched hit for hit IMO... until after the second pick 6 when we were forced to play catch up; which is nearly impossible against a defense like that
Posted on 11/26/12 at 10:34 am to FootballNostradamus
They are the hardest hitting defence in football bar none.
Also the most cocky.
Similar to the bucs with lynch. One holds you up and the secondary runs down hill to knock you out.
Perhaps they do this in a legal way that the NFL doesn't fine. Hardly ever see a flag on that secondary.
Now will go and give brain a good rinse.

PT really hasn't really gotten many touches lately...sucks too because he has only been nothing but a productive back since he got his chance back in 2007.
The two plays that Pierre has made lately have been the fumble recoveries. He had one against the Eagles and one against the Raiders. those were two big plays really but I guess they can get lost in the shuffle pretty quick in a winning streak.
yesterday it looked like the turnover battle was ours to win but everything changed on that first pick six. I mean sure, there was still a whole half to play but I'd be lying if I said that play didn't keep me quiet for awhile.

Is it that difficult to see the comparison between 49ers being an SEC-style power rushing attack with a big physical defense and the Saints being a more wide-open Big 12 team that relies more on QB and skill?
Again, I agree people mesh NCAA and NFL too much, and this wasn't some all-encompassing or damning statement about the Saints/49ers/Big 12/SEC/whatever. It's just a pretty obvious difference in playing styles.

I only remember them knocking one guy completely out the game (Pierre in the playoffs last year). Did you not see Vilma obliterate Kyle Williams then on the same play injure Hunter? I'm sure the bounty jokes amongst the people of San Fagcisco are prevalent today. I hate those people equally as much as the gumptard Bama fans.

We just have too many solid RBs and we aren't a run 1st team - we seem to be going with the hot hand (Ivory/Ingram). There are only so many plays.
However, PT is the best screen pass catcher in the NFL. I'd like to see him get 1 or 2 per game.
Sproles also needed to be used more with 3 step drops.
We just didn't do enough to slow down their pass rush in the 2nd half.

PT is the best of the bunch in every aspect and that is not arguable.

It was 31-21 with 6-7 mins left. Everyone knew the saints needed to score quickly. It's much easier as a defensive line to just rush a pocket passer.

playcalling was horrible 2nd half, after we got down, we abaondoned the run and try to start slinging it and the 9ers D feasted on it
