Has the injury cost Davis the ROY?

ROY is typically rewarded for the most productive rookie of the year, not always the best rookie by the end of the year. With Lillard off to a good start, assuming he stays healthy, has pretty good head start that Davis might not be able to catch up to at this point.

-FTR, I think the best rookies in this class by the end of the year are Davis, MKG and Drummond, but Lillard wins it.

What says HT?

For ROY? Not a chance.

It's either Davis' or Lillard's to lose. Lillard has the flashy numbers but Davis' efficiency is through the roof. I don't see how he doesn't get it if he can get healthy and continue at that level of play.

Give it time.

Lillard has been great but I think he cools off.

Davis's per game numbers are skewed because he got hurt early in one game. PER 36, he's 20 and 10. If he comes back with a healthy Gordon to share the load, things can change.

Definitely.

MVP probably isn't out of the question either.

I'm not sure what would lead you to such a prediction. I think he'll improve for sure but not ROY material

The interwebs REALLY loves Lillard right now.

Go to the hoopshype media twitter page on a night Lillard is playing, its crazy. Writers lose their minds over everything the guy does.

I think Davis is a distant 2nd in those guys' eyes right now because of the injury.

Drummond has also been really productive when he plays. He's just getting scrub minutes for some reason though.

It's just like Darren Collision. People see a very productive rookie on a bad team and assume he'll keep getting better because he's a rookie and rookies always get better. But the only reason he's good for a rookie is because he got so much experience in college, so he's not really a rookie and he probably won't get much better than he is now. Not that that's bad, but 5 years from now he won't be one of the top 2 players from this class.

I think people are sleeping on MKG. He's not putting up staggering numbers, but that team is so much better than last year and he has been solid. If Davis's injury gets worse and Lillard hits the wall, MKG is going to be right there. Barnes has been lighting it up too..

Many of the NBA bloggerati are PDX fans. They always go nuts over anything and everything Portland does.
