NotreDame has:
a 3 point win against 4-8 Purdue,
a 3 point triple OT win against 5-6 Pitt,
a 3 point win against 7-5 BYU
a 7 point win against Mich (destroyed by Bama)
a 9 point win against 7-5 Trojans

I guess their best win is Oklahoma.
They finish 7th in the SEC.

I think so, altho I'm not as confident with Georgia.. even tho I think UGA can very well beat Bama..

I definitely believe in the others..

Style points don't apply to Notre Dame. We all know that if LSU took 3 OT's to beat Pitt in Tiger Stadium, LSU would have dropped in the polls.

The NC will be ugly. Probably as bad as the game when LSU beat ND in the Sugar bowl years ago.

Sorry the dominance of the SEC bores you. If the Domers played in the SEC that game yesterday would have been to get bowl eligible.

And a win against Stanford who just moved ahead of us. Whatever. Stanford isn't any good.

Id love to see Johnny Football vs the Fightin' Irish defense.
That'd be a great game.

Could you imagine how terrible the hate would be if it was Ohio St playing ND? That's what it would be if not for their ban

Haha. Whoop our arse? We would beat the piss out of them, especially in a bowl game. We would destroy them in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Have you been paying attention to college football the last decade? We are bigger, faster, stronger, more physical....it would not be close.

They are not nearly as good as the next 6 weeks of media hype will suggest. All 6 SEC teams above would match up well with Irish.

They shouldnt be playing for a title. They are not in a conference. Special treatment sucks.

Well, they don't. And because they don't, they are subject to ridicule for not scheduling a team in the SEC, which pretty much gives them ZERO room for error..aka a loss, even to the best team they play, puts them out of championship contention. Well, seeing as how they are the only remaining bowl-eligible team without a loss, what more do you want?

ETA: I am in no way a ND fan, apologist, or anything of the like. But, sometimes the irrationality of our fan base gets in the way of thinking logically. ND has held up their end of the bargain by winning every game, something that no other bowl-elible team in the country was able to do. Yes, the SEC has established some credibility to the point that a 1-loss, hell, even a 2-loss team within its conference has more clout than a team with the same record in any other conference, but fact of the matter is, if there are teams outside of the SEC borders that go undefeated, they will get the nod.

After watching USC last night, with a first start by a freshman QB, it was obvious that program has great talent. Must be the coaching to go 7-5.....

Put ND in the SEC and they would struggle to go undefeated like any upper tier team does, they are still a damn solid team with plenty of play makers. Long term starters on OL doesn't hurt, either.
