Outback Bowl Question
Posted by bearhc on 11/25/12 at 8:23 am00
I think most people would agree that the Outback is a better bowl than the Peach. Why doesn't LSU ever get consideration for this bowl? In addition, after K-State rips the Longhorns, the Longhorns should not be invited to the Cotton Bowl.

They have a preference for the SECE, like the Cotton has for the SECW.
It's part of the selection process:
BCS
Capital One
Cotton/Outback (first option at West/East team)
Chicken

After the Cap One Bowl selects, the Cotton gets first pick from the West and the Outback gets first pick from the east. The Outback "could" choose LSU if A&M goes to the Cotton. However, the bowls do work together to some degree - so if Clemson is in the Chick Fil A Bowl, there's no way South Carolina's going to fall there to set up a rematch.
I've accepted LSU is going to wind up in Atlanta on New Years Eve.

This might help us get Cotton, but A&M and Johnny Football are hot.

Ding Ding Ding, no way the Cotton passes up the chance to have Johnny Football in their game. Couple this with LSU starting the year off in Jerry World next year, and it's pretty evident LSU's not going bowling in Dallas.
And I know we went to the Cotton in the same scenario two years ago, but who else did the Cotton have to pick from then? Mississippi State?

I am telling ya IF the Outback can land Michigan they will choose LSU. A classic matchup of teams that have never met. Denard against the LSU D.

The SEC has some sway in this, they're not gonna allow the Chicken Bowl to get stuck with a South Carolina-Clemson rematch. ACC has no else to offer. When the three ACC teams lost in their rivalry games yesterday, it all but sealed LSU's bowl fate.
