Alien/Aliens: Theatrical vs Director's Cut

This went unnoticed in the Walmart Deals thread, but wanted to know the general consensus.
I've never seen any of the Alien movies, but i picked up both Alien and Aliens on Bluray for $3.96 each today. I've heard the theatrical version of Alien is better than the Directors Cut, but the Directors Cut is the way to go for Aliens. What the boards take?

Theatrical of Aliens has less of Newt.
So I'm in that versions camp.

The d cut for both is better
