Seems that way, or do we play down?
Which is it?
IMO theses other teams realize going in that anything other that all out will prob result in an embarrassment.
Price you pay for being one of the elites.

It's not tough to get your guys up to play LSU
We're one of the top 2-3 programs in the entire country over the last decade
Everyone brings their A-game when the best in the business comes to town. If you don't crush teams early they'll keep up that level of intensity.

It's a big deal to beat LSU these days
Yes, we get everyone's A game/effort

just asking...so teams don't bring the Aplus effort against Alabama?
Posted on 11/24/12 at 8:44 am to TIGRLEE
We play down. We are incredibly inconsistent. We get up for the Alabama game, and any big out of conference game we may have. Other than that, we sleepwalk. No sense of urgency.
Stop circling fricking Alabama on the calendar, and work on bringing that same type of intensity on a weekly basis, and we blow the fricking doors off of everybody.

I honestly think LSU plays down to the level of some or isn't as mentally prepared. Everyone gives Bama their A game too and we have blown out many more teams (other than A&M). We saw in LSU game vs. Bama our two teams are close to equal.

They play down way more than the others bring superhuman effort. Yestereday there was plenty of sloppy play on both sides of the ball, and Arkansas did not play great. Towson could play to their absolute best and if LSU shows up to play they couldn't get close.

Hard to stay at the top of the ladder. Someone is ALWAYS trying to pull you down.

True, but alot of that falls on coaching staff. The boys have to be ready every week physically and Mentally.

Case in point: Tim Brando said at the start of the game yesterday that the atmosphere in the stadium was like a bowl game for Arkansas.

This year's team isn't all that good right now. We were very lucky and talented enough to beat 2 below average football teams the last 2 games. I will take 10-2 with how inconsistent this team has been especially the last half of the year.

I think it's a combination of things.
First, the Ole Miss and Arkansas games seem to be way bigger deals to their fans/players than to ours.
Second, because LSU is one of the premier teams in the SEC/country, our opponents have no trouble getting up for us.
Third, after the Bama game, the LSU defense was spent. How else do you explain going from one of the stingiest pass defenses in the country to one of the worst for the last three games of the season?

Interesting theory. So I guess when Alabama hung 50 points on their sorry asses, Johnelle told them to "save it for LSU"? Color me sarcastically skeptical.
Bama has no problem curb stomping, pistol whipping and in general crushing the hopes of outmanned and outgunned opponents. Said opponents look nowhere near as competitive.
All I see here is an excuse that isn't applicable when you compare LSU to its only current peer program in our conference.

We don't have a QB just yet.
Next year should be good for Mett, but he still can't run through progressions and he has no sense of pressure.
The OL could be much better next year as young guys are maturing and injuries are healed.

Last year LSU rolled everyone
This year has been more of a challenge
Injuries, new QB, reshuffled OL before most difficult part of schedule
MSU, Ole Miss and Ark want nothing more than to beat LSU and after Bama game this team could have mailed it in and didn't
LSU has been in every game and hasn't gotten blown out going all the way back to 2008 season

Missstate hung 45 on ark last week.
So I ain't buying that.
I think has to do with the competions effort moreso than ours.

This excuse is getting old.
Arkansas gave little to no effort, that team was awful and should've been blown out.

He isn't there yet.
I don't recall a single completion this season where he has gone to anyone other than the primary receiver. I know there were a lot of drops, but if the hot receiver isn't open, he is in trouble. And he runs like Peyton Manning.
His touch is not good much of the time. Three of his TD passes were spectacular catches.
I think he will be very good next year because he has progressed, but he isn't there yet.
