I've never shot one with a slug before. That was a massive hole. What distance did you nail him from

17 yards..........I don't think I'm gonna eat this deer....its an a-hole.

I'll tell the story soon but needless to say it, it was this animals day to die.

I started it 11/3 and bagged a nice 8pt. Was hoping to start it yesterday morning hoping to kill another but didn't get settled in the stand in time. Didn't see a shooter.

I sure did. I don't get very good reception at the camp. Shoot me an email

I'm on the road right now but will holler back at you.

So I'm watching squirrels and listening and I think I hear one walking......crunch, crunch, crunch...ya'll know the sound.

I'm thinking its coming from behind me and to the right so I shift a little, and watch. Suddenly I hear some movement to my left and I glance over and see this buck grubbing acorns.

It was behind a limb and was quartered away. I brought the shotgun up and shot. Sumbitch never looked up the whole time. I shot, it fell over, it did kick once and wheeze.

My Browning is a smoothbore with a rifled choke tube but I use Foster type slugs( all I got). I can keep the groupings fairly tight up to 50 yards. At the stand, the furthest shot I have is 42 yards.

Maybe next year I'll try some of those sabots.

I'm currently convinced that everything I hear is a monster buck. It's time for a kill

As I hit send I looked up the road and the big 6 I let go this morning was walking across 50 yds from my std. Probably should have shot him because the first hunter he goes by he will get shot. I wish my kids would been with me.

Only ended up with 4 nice white perch this morning. Then we took the 3 boys to the safari park in Delhi, Then to Cooterville fishing pond. They hung 78 bream in about 20 minutes. It was a blast!
