Surely IF LSU doesn't get into a BCS bowl, the loss by Texas would make LSU an attractive option for the Cotton Bowl now that it doesn't look like they can dial up a Texas/aTm matchup?

Helps that it may further motivate Texas to beat K State next week.

K State is still ahead of us in half the human polls and all the computers. Go longhorns!

It's disconcerting to have to pull for teams you hate

Tx loss has no bearing on the SEC team going to the cotton bowl.

For Texas to win, the Longhorns would have to buck a season-long trend of Big 12 teams losing the next game after playing TCU.

Yes, that weird stat is true. Every Big 12 team has lost their next game after playing TCU. Every single one.

Add in the fact, that I think K-State is the better team anyway, and I don't see Texas winning.

fifty. Although you could argue that by extension the same is true for the cotton bowl

Not true, it's about matchups and the Texas/aTm matchup was very appealing.

Texas is pretty much a lock to the cotton if A&M goes to the cotton

A&M is frothing at the mouth to get Johnny Extra Point a chance to play the Whornes. But I live here in Texas. Trust me, Deloss Dodd will never let that happen.

I still don't think that LSU is a good fit for the Cotton Bowl. We have gone to Dallas twice in the last two years. We open the season there next year. The LSU fan base can't get pumped up for 4 visits to Dallas in 2 and a half years.

Why would this affect the Cotton Bowl taking Texas and aTm.

The Cotton can take whoever they want from the Big12 aside from those in the BCS. Unless OU loses, they will at least be an at large. Texas isn't making the BCS and if they are on the table to play against aTm, it doesn't matter if they are 7-5 or 6-6....the Cotton is making that matchup.

I totally agree that The cotton bowl wants an aTm/Tx match up as choice one. But if you follow the extrapolation out, the cotton bowl wants aTm vs any big 12 team as their second choice. Thus the Tx loss has no bearing on the SEC team going to the cotton bowl.
