Band from Memphis.. anybody like em? One of their more popular live songs is a cover of Kiss The Bottle. But they have a lot of great songs. Just wondering if they're known by you guys.

Awesome band. I'm a fan of their earlier stuff. Ben Nichols is one of the best songwriters out there.

Agree. Didn't really like the last 2 albums. But that usually happens to bands... Ben really is a great songwriter and one of the most unappreciated people in music, imo. It's interesting how most guys write their best stuff when they're young. Hold Me Close was written when he was 19... Have you seen the movie his brother directed, Shotgun Stories? It's basically an 1:30 long music video to Decoration Day (DBTs) but it is a very good melancholy movie.

They play in Fayetteville quite a bit. I really enjoyed them most times, but the last show I saw was underwhelming

I'd guess they were playing a lot of songs off the newest album.. I think they're getting over their prime for live shows too.

Love Em. Tennessee is probably my favorite album by them, but there are so many good ones.

Tennessee is mine. Although it may have more to do with the nostalgia factor than anything

I love their earlier stuff... some really good songs... I wanted to throw the last CD out the window of my car and roll over it a few times...

Agree totally. If I was musician I think I would just quit making records after 40, maybe 35.. it seems most people lose it around that age, except for some of the greats. I think each artist only has so much to give and once that is given, it's time to not make anymore. But of course, if you're on a record label you have to keep pumping them out.

A sad fact of life that every songwriter will someday face is that one day you're going to wake up and you just won't have it anymore. The spark will be gone, the magic will have left you. As a young man you were full of piss and vinegar, angry and disenfranchised, nervous and on edge. But at 40 you're comfortable, grounded and happy. Great art rarely comes from happiness.

they aren't on the label anymore, and haven't been since the record came out... sales weren't what the label wanted, and they dropped them

I just think they direction they went with was not them... the whole horn section just seems like a gimmicky ploy idk the last record just seemed like it was contrived and forced
