It's just sad what's happening over there. Used to be a great place. They didnt hire the guy until July what did they think was going to happen

..and they had only 20 or so players when he arrived. He added several Fresh/Soph to the roster, but you are not winning with 20 returning players and your 3rd coach in less than 6 months.

catholic should look at this situation and worry. PBS started a holy war with redemp and this is what is left. Catholic is next

No way this was based on wins and losses. The administration hired the guy two weeks before practice started and almost the entire senior class got plucked by area schools.

This is an indictment on the administration at RHS not knowing how to make athletics an important part of the educational process.

Redemptorist should stop playing football and concentrate on Basketball. Become a Class B school.

Not sure if serious.

I'd say a good chunk of Redemptorist's problems are more along the lines of "The kinds of kids they used to get go to Central and Zachary now."

Too bad. He did the best you could do with what he had. I hope he wasn't fired based on this season's results.

They recruited hard and offered scholarships to said recruits. Recruits play, kids whose parents were funding the scholarships don't, kid quite, that family quits making contributions, funding for scholarships dries up, no more recruits, other kids have already quit, so the school has trouble fielding a team. In RHS case, add a headmaster that wants to emphasize academics and devalue athletics, and that's where they've landed.

Fwiw, there have been a few signs of the recruiting cycle affecting our school.

A couple of those losses were 5a schools with only 20 players mostly underclassman. They gave him little time before the season started to put something together. This isnt the Redemptorist of old. Nobody will want that job.

That's a bit extreme but there may be bits and parts of this that are correct. Zachary and Central getting their own school systems is the primary reason that RHS lost their 4A numbers and also lost their finnancial support. If CHS and ZHS were still in EBR's system then I dont think RHS would have the problems it is

That's ridiculous, if that's how they are going to operate a football program then I hope they lose every game.

You are correct about Central and Zachary. And apparently, a bunch of kids that used to come out of the AP are staying home nowadays too. Hard to compete with free.

Yes, right before school started. I can't remember if they fired the other coach or if he quit.
