These obviously only are games involving NFC teams. Happy early Thanksgiving, everyone.

TURKEY DAY
Houston at Detroit - Houston wins. Detroit virtually out of playoff contention at 4-7.

Washington at Dallas - Redskins win. Dallas and Skins tied one spot behind Saints in Wild Card hunt at 5-6.

SUNDAY
San Francisco at New Orleans (3:25 PM, FOX) --

Minnesota at Chicago -- Bears win Minny drops to 6-5

Seattle at Miami -- Miami wins Seattle drops to 6-5

Atlanta at Tampa Bay -- Atlanta wins, which is good for the Saints, as Tampa drops to 6-5.

St. Louis at Arizona (3:25 PM, FOX) -- ARI is at 4-6 and STL is at 3-6-1, so probably need to root for STL, even though neither is really a threat.

Green Bay at NY Giants (7:20 PM, NBC) -- Both likely to win their respective divisions at this point, though it's close. Green Bay is tied for the lead, and the Giants have a 1 game edge. This will be a fun game. The second place finisher in the NFC North will more than likely (borrowing something weird) be the 1st wild card. Probably need to root for Green Bay, but again, this is tricky. But who we do root for will probably be decided depending on the outcome of the Bears game. What say y'all?

MON, NOV 26
Carolina at Philadelphia (7:30, ESPN) -- LOL @ both teams. ESPN probably though this would be a great matchup heading into the season. TOO BAD. But Saints fans should pull for Scam and the Panthers.

wasn't me last time, though I would love to take credit for it. just figured i'd start it up a few days early, since the games start Thursday

definitely don't disagree with that. I think it's best that they split it no matter what, so that neither team gets two wins, since they are both so close to the saints. so I think either way, the Saints win here

Root for Dallas over Washington, because we are going to need to beat Dallas to get in anyway. If we are tied with either of them, its better to be tied with the one we beat. Root for Dallas.

Root for Chicago over Minnesota. Both Chicago and GB are likely getting in. We need to catch Minny.

Root for GB over the Giants. We don't want any part of being tied with GB for a Wild Card spot. They'll get tiebreaker. Let GB win the rest of their games so we avoid them in the Wild Card round of playoffs

I say root for Chicago to lose, Green Bay to win and win that division. Chicago may go into a tailspin and fall all the way from wildcard grace completely. Then there would be two potential wildcard spots for us to try to climb up to.

Atlanta at Tampa Bay (12:00 PM, FOX) -- Atlanta. Tampa is in the Wild Card hunt with the Saints. Sadly, need to root for an ATL win.

Sadly, this is incorrect. Nice work on the rest, but we need Tampa to win in order for us to win the Division. Math.

All of my comments are based on the assumption that we must, and will, win out.

1) Atlanta @ Tampa: We want Tampa to win because it gets us one game closer to Atlanta. We can even our record with Tampa when we beat them, and we hold the tie breaker over them right now. Additionally, Tampa still has to play Denver @ Denver.

2) Washington @ Dallas: Washington is behind us in the standings. Dallas is level with us, but we get them H2H. Still, give us an extra game cushion, so I'd pull for Washington.

Agree with the rest.

Wins by the Eagles right now would favor the Saints. They are too far behind to make a run but winning may give them enough momentum to compete in the NFC East. Carolina can stick a fork in it, they are done.

Exactly. Until the division title is clinched, you pull for the leader in your division to lose.

you are quite delusional if you think the Falcons are going to drop 4 of their last 6 games, IMO. why would you root for the Bucs? right now, they are the biggest threat. it's unlikely, though not improbable, the saints will win out. if that's the case, then you need the bucs to lose here.

The division isn't clinched yet, so until then, you root for them to lose.

They SHOULD HAVE LOST this past week. Tampa is tough at home, despite their poor crowd. Carolina is tougher at home than on the road, and THEY almost beat Atlanta.

The goal is to win the division. Until that is MATHEMATICALLY unattainable, you root for the teams that will help to achieve that goal. And right now, Tampa over Atlanta gets us one game closer.

Period.
