Best smartphone for weak signal area?

Need new phone that will work best at my camp on Tickfaw River. I tried the Samsung s3 and returned it after 2 days, my current iPhone 3 worked better staying connected to the web.

The old school 3 watt phones were the shite. Get whatever phone you want and look at either a Wilson car kit, or Wilson home booster kit. Best ones on the market

FWIW, if you get a strong enough one for the car, and you park next to the house, you might be able to just get away with the one in your car.

Most of the larger companies that have people out in the field use Wilson stuff. They also have 4g boosters

re: Best smartphone for weak signal area?

I'm on Verizon and went through the process of trying to find the best phone for a weak signal area a couple of months ago. I had a HTC Incredible which was giving me horrible service, dropping calls, no calls, ect.

After reading on the web, talking to Verizon and other folks, I changed to a Motorola Razr and the difference was amazing. Where I had absolutely no service with the HTC, I could talk without a single call drop.

Just for info, when I asked two different Verizon stores about the S3 and how it worked in weak signal areas, they both were very open in recommending to NOT get the S3. They said the Razr was by far the best for those fringe areas.

I have absolutely no complaints with the Razr at all. I highly recommend it.

I had the same problem with android at my camp in Mississippi. Since I've upgraded to my iPhone 5 I have no problems connecting and can actually pick up a data signal. Before it was rare, I would have to move around to catch a signal.

I have stayed with AT&T just for this reason, I assumed that they have the best coverage in the sticks, what say you?

re: Best smartphone for weak signal area?

This is a big problem in the mountains in Colorado. Even with a booster in my Jeep my smart phone will lose signal relatively fast. I switched to Verizon because they have better service in my area. I couldn't cancel my AT&T account so I downgraded it and just used a basic phone.

I went from having no AT&T service in areas with my smart phone to having full bars in the same location with the basic phone. The Verizon smart phone could pick up weak signal but nothing close to the basic phone.

Depends on where you live.

I've switched phone types before and improved my reception dramatically. It was a GSM phone in Africa but I assume the same applies anywhere.

I live in BR, but spend my weekends at my camp on the Tickfaw River.

Anybody with Verizon and live out near the Tickfaw or Blood rivers?

I have Verizon and haven't ever had any problems out there. I have a S3 now and won't be able to test it until next summer though.
