Agreed. From a sporting standpoint this is almost as disgusting as the guy who kicked the ref.

I just don't understand why Shakhtar didn't let them score into an open goal and admit it was a mistake. How you can argue for that kind of behavior, like their manager did, is beyond me. It would have been simple:

- "I'm sorry, I didn't realize what was going on, I wasn't paying attention, etc."

- Clear the goalkeeper out and let the other team score to remedy the mistake.

- Play on from there.

Its not that hard to display sportsmanship even in this situation.

I stand by that statement too. Obviously kicking a ref in the head is a worse thing to do but from a pure sporting perspective this may be the most disgraceful thing I have ever seen.

People do really dumb stuff caught up in the heat of the moment. I have seen several instances of players punching/fighting/kicking etc... I have never seen someone deliberately do something as pathetic as what Adriano did. It was no mistake or accident. The rest of the team is really no better for not doing anything to remedy it.

Basically the guy who kicked the ref deserves his suspension and is lucky if he is ever allowed to play again but I have even less respect for Adriano.

I think the only way real justice can be served here is to disqualify Shaktar from the CL.
