Not sure if this has been discussed before, so I apologize if it has been.

I have to go with Scrubs. It is consistently funny, has depth of character and has substance.

What say you?

Seinfeld?
Cheers?
MASH?
Parks and Rec?
Modern Family?

Scrubs is definitely up there. Such an awesome mix of hilarious and serious.

Saved By the Bell (obviously)
Cosby Show
Home Improvement
Cheers
The Office
Arrested Development

I know Psych prolly doesn't count as an actual "sitcom," but it's a comedy and is definitely one of my favorites.

Seinfeld and AD tied for me, and they also tie for my 2 favorite shows of all time, with LOST in 3rd.

With seinfeld, you can just watch an episode randomly on TBS and still crack up without having seen any other episodes. It's truly timeless. It will still be funny 30 years from now. AD is a little trickier because there's so much backstory in each episode with little inside jokes and mannerisms with the characters that a first timer just watching a random episode from season 2 would probably think it's stupid. It's doesn't hold up very well in that regard, but as far as pure LOL funny it tops seinfeld for me. It is just plain old funny as frick.

Cheers

I have the 3 episode finale "One for the Road" on my DVR.

Seen bits and pieces of it, but too afraid to watch it.

I was torn up watching "I Do, Adieu"

3 camera style, Seinfeld

otherwise, Arrested Development. Does Wonder Years count or not since it is more of a dramedy?

Of course it will always be funny to us, but many episodes will be completely lost on the next generation.

For example 555-filk. One of my absolute favorites.

I could be wrong though. I love the Andy Griffith show and its in black and white.

I wouldn't. They are half hour dramas, espescially Wonder Years.

But if Modern Family counts, the AD should.

Not sure that one counts, huh?

And I completely forgot about Fresh Prince and South Park. SP would be close to my #1 actually.

Parks and Rec has gotten a lot of love on this board in the past. I tried watching the pilot and another episode and I wanted to hit myself in the face. I can only assume it gets better? Or is it like The Office on crack throughout?
