Hey man, settle down. This is a civil debate,no need in getting all "Country" up in here.
BTW-Did you catch the part in the OP where it was said the fisherman was 70 yards away? I70 yards too close to a duck hunter?
I ask because I've never been duck hunting.

You're giving fisherman a bad name BTW.
Because duck hunters get to decide what's considered too close to them?
70 yards is too close?

obviously, and yes, 70 yards is too close

fisherman is an idiot no matter what. What happens if a duck came in low between them?

just be a dick and shoot the water up
If I was the hunter, I could see a situation where I went through a box of shells (shooting in the air) trying to run the fishermen off. Most fishermen wouldn't hang around.

Birds tend not to fly in and land with people in boats that close. If they do hunters might be shooting at ducks with fishermen as the backdrop...

Way, way, way too close.

FWIW,I've been peppered before on the water.
How far is far enough away to not be within shooting distance of duck shot?
BTW-This was in the marsh area right by Unknown Pass last year.

not getting mad, that's just how I talk I guess.
Yes, being that close is gonna mess his hunt up. Especially if there's a lot of movement on the boat and the motors running. Ducks have great eyesight and it would be a major major distraction to what the hunter is trying to accomplish. As far as I'm concerned, it would ruin my morning.

I have killed limits of ducks while fishing.....
simply pass shooting and jump shooting.
we had ducks come into our dekes last weekend with a boat fishing about 100 yards away.

What are the regs there? On one WMA I fish, you cannot fish before noon or 2(I forget)during duck season for this very reason.

Exactly. Not the first time this problem has come up.

Not surprised at that...

Interesting that they were decoying with visible people that close, got your text on the boat, will try to mess with it later this week...

You have just as much "right" to the spot as he does BUT, I would fish elswhere. As others have said, much easier to pick up and go than having to handle decoys and it's (duck hunting) more limited than fishing in terms of # of days.

IMO there shouldn't be a debate here. Duck hunter is there first and you would be flaring his birds. If you are close enough to have been "peppered" in the past you are fishing too close to duck hunters.
I would say 200 yards is the closest I would get.
On the flip side we have a saying at our place sometimes the diffrerecne between a limit and missing it is a couple fishermen running around moving birds.
