I agree. I think it is unfair to have permanent opponents. Also, I am sick of playing Auburns tired arse every year. WE have carried those frickers along with us forever and I think it is time for them to stand alone. If not for Alabama nobody would even know who Auburn was.

If we hadn't played like crap against UF and managed to win, the strong schedule helps us. I like the stronger schedule. We just need to be better prepared than we were for the first half of the season. It's hard to go undefeated regardless of the schedule when you don't play well. I would rather lose to UF than UK.

Or, if you're determined to keep the "traditional rivalry" games, then only count divisional games when determining who goes to the SECCG.

Otherwise, if Alabama is so bent on playing Tennessee, send their asses to the East give us Missouri, the westernmost team in the conference. If they're worried about balance, send Florida to the West in exchange for Auburn.

Have each program determine who they "must" play each year. These programs that are holding everybody else hostage must make a choice whether those rivalries are worth the choice of having them all in one division:

LSU
MSU
OLE MISS
ARKANSAS
A&M
MIZZOU
USCe

ALA
AUBURN
TENN
GEORGIA
FLORIDA
VANDY
KENTUCKY

The choice is either these divisions or give up the "must have" rivalries. Remember the old way of handling a situation where you have to divide two piles into equal parts. You ask the two parties whether they'd like to separate the two piles equally or pick the pile they want.

Ask the parties whether they want to keep their old rivalries or pick the divisions...and they can't have both.

I know...I'm a dreaming.

Let them play Tenn. Let Auburn play UGA. Allow everyone else to rotate. Problem solved.

But it's easier to beat "any team" when you have cupcakes in between. Having an easier schedule helps your team rest players, not have to get "up" for as many games, and possibly less total injuries. It's just easier not having to be at the top of your game every week.
Interesting point. I'm guessing you feel that it was totally unfair that LSU had an off week before the Alabama game to rest up, but Bama had to play against a decent Mississippi State team? Probably because the league office is in Alabama, right?

Does LSU control its bye week schedule? Does Alabama and the powers that be control the scheduling format? See, it's not the same.

Put Bama in the East. Mizzou in the West. That way they have their game with TN and will play FL, UGA, USCe every year. Enough with them playing the bottom of the SEC with Vanderbilt and UK. they play one big SEC game a year, that's it.

Saban SPECIFICALLY did not want the bye before lsu this year. He thinks its messes up their rhythm and chemistry and that is probably true for a saban coached team. But he ASKED for it

It was one of his excuses based on last year.

The same could be said of georgia. They didn't play alabama or lsu this year, florida played lsu, USCe played lsu.

In 2011, we had the toughest schedule we probably have ever had. I think we played 8 ranked teams. It was absurd. There's a great quote that all the national pundits say referencing LSU. "When the lights are on, the freaks come out." LSU plays to their level of competition so I'm glad we have a tough slate. We don't throw up on ourselves in Gainesville, we are 1 win away for playing for it all again. Football is a game of inches.

And if we don't play UF this year, we're in the same boat you just described.

All the people bitching about schedule are same ones who would botch if LSU had Vandy/Kentucky and then played ULL instead of Washington.....

At start of year people on this very board did not think much of A&M and Florida that both were "rebuilding" and LSU would cake walk them. At same time Michigan was supposed to be better than they are. Teams can't dictate how another team will do. No one expected A&M to be this good this early but if Tennessee would have performed like they were supposed to this would be a moot point. The fact they suck again makes the Alabama schedule weaker

If you had to lay down your life savings on whether UF or Tenn would be more successful over the next 10 years, who would you take?

Which team has an easier path.

One that plays::

Mizzou/Tennessee
aTm/lsu
Florida/USCe
Ole miss/auburn.

Now look at who will be plying in the seccg.
