Former Buccaneers and Raiders coach Jon Gruden has been one of the most coveted coaching candidates since leaving the game for the broadcast booth after the 2008 season, and has been approached by numerous NFL owners and universities in recent years, with Arkansas and Tennessee of the SEC ranking as the latest to covet him. Both universities want Gruden, sources said, as they try to get back to being powers in the challenging SEC. The Razorbacks are prepared to make their next coach the highest-paid in the SEC, according to sources close to the program, and budget will not be an issue. The program, which has plummeted in the wake of the Bobby Petrino scandal (the Razorbacks dropped to 4-7 and out of the bowl picture on Saturday), is prepared to be part of a bidding war for Gruden, 48, sources said.

The money that will pay for a big name coach will come from outside the AD.

Both schools have billionaires as boosters. The money will be there. It will come down to who thinks it is worth it more.

@BFeldmanCBS: Wouldn't be completely shocked to see Jon Gruden take the Tennessee job. Would be shocked to see him take Arkansas tho.

I guess you forgot the branch that built Mizzou's arena (originally named it after their daughter was attending a different college at the time)

I'm not focusing on him I just posted info that has been reported by actual media.

I'd like him but not as the highest paid HC in the country.

yeah I meant the school I know you were just posting that. I've said this before, If Gruden comes back to coaching he's going to the eagles. UT and arky fans should hope the eagles start winning some games and save Andy Reid's job.

Jeff Long is a smart man, I doubt he'd put all his eggs in one basket and get burned like that. He'll play it close to the vest like all of his hires. We didn't know Petrino was hired (or even interested in the job) until he was on a plane to Fayetteville for the presser.
