How does Bama drop 2-3 spots after losses and everyone else drops 5-6 after every loss ?

How many slots did LSU lose after their second loss to Bama?
re: sagarin computer poll - lsu dropps to 8Posted by NOLATIGAH on 11/18/12 at 7:44 am to Siderophore
like 4. we lost 2 spots with a win. lol

Stanford moved to 4. I think his poll shows heavy Pac12 bias. It always does. We are, however, the second ranked 2 loss team behind Stanford.

Stand corrected.....they shouldn't have dropped that far IMO, and that is an outlier far out of what the other polls gave them.
I dont mind the jump/correction.
LSU drop makes less sense though

Pretty sure he was talking overall, not focusing on a poll that makes up 5% of the BCS
Bama dropped from 1 to 9 after their FIRST loss....not 4
Hence my not minding the jump back.

Sagarin seems to have preference for Pac 12 football. In basketball he always likes Big 12 best.
Sagarin schedule strength:
Cal 2
AZ 3
Or St 4
Wash 5
Stanf 7

Even though we could beat every team, I think 8 is about right

Guess which 4-loss team Sagarin keeps in the Top 20?

Alabama was #9 in the ELO Chess, then we moved to #3.
Looking at it, keep in mind those rankings are based on numerical scores - and the top 2 (Notre Dame and Florida) have a pretty large margin (95.49 and 94.62) over us (91.77) but there is a logjam among the 3-8 spots, with LSU being "#8" but at 90.87, is only .9 away from #3. It's so close that a minor variation can make a lot of difference. We play Auburn (80) and LSU plays Arkansas (64), so not a lot of difference in SOS impact there but maybe just enough. Of course if we win and beat UGA, the SOS and ranking will likely move up a decent bit.
