Any of those teams you highlighted losing helps us. And with so many dropping to at or worse than our record with a loss makes it seem all too likely we'll make it in!

Until they clinch, it's not locked up.

The Saints have to win out in order to have the best possible chance of making it. If the Falcons slip up a couple times, the division comes into play.

We're talking about the Falcons here, anything is possible. We could be within 2 games by the time we play them again

A better phrasing would be, "The Falcons have the division all but locked up", basically. They have a huge cushion and it would take a lot of bad luck (or good luck for the Saints) to get the Falcons to drop the division.

It all comes down to the Seahawks. We need them to lose the rest of their road games.

Yeah, I also see the Seahawks as the main competition. I'm gonna be pissed if that GB game is what separates us. Especially since I was so happy when it happened

The title of the thread needs to be changed.

That is not what the OP is saying at all.

I do repect the sticky though.

You're right. Slipped my mind. The title asks who we want to lose, then listed who we want to win. I'll change it...

1. Cardinals @ Falcons ...we want Cardinals. The Falcons have not wrapped up the division yet. With a win against the Cardinals and not dropping all three to us and the Bucs they probably will. But if the Cardinals win and so do we then things can get interesting. Also the Cardinals still play Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, and the 49ers we want them to have something to play for so those games are not a given for teams we are competing against

2. Browns @ Cowboys ... We want Browns.

3. Packers @ Lions ... we want Lions. Need the Lions to still care. Their schedule is so hard they will loose 2 even if they get hot. Want them to loose to the Texans and Colts but beat the Packers twice, Bears and Falcons and still finish 9-7. But in the process giving the Saints room to drop one if that happens.

4. Jets @ Rams ... we want Jets

5. Eagles @ Redskins ... We want Eagles. We really want the Eagles to run the table and win out and win the division but knock the Giants and Cowboys our in the process. Also the tiebreaker in out favor is why a win out scenario is fine.

6. Buccaneers @ Panthers... We want Panthers

7. Bears @ 49ers.. We want 49ers. Mostly because the Bears have a hard schedule and with a loss here they drop to 7-3 with games against Seattle, Minnesota (twice), Green Bay and Detroit still to come. Could loose 3 or 4 of those.

We are chasing a combination of 5 teams for a playoff spot. The Bears, Packers, Minnesota, 49ers, and Seattle. Between those 5 teams and us their are 4 spots available. Two will be division winners. The Packers and Seahawks winning thier division would be best for us because we can control our destiny against the 49ers if Seattle beats them. If we take care of the Giants and Cowboys then those teams will not threaten us for a wild card. So what we need is any team playing one of the 5 above us to win. As to the Cardinals winning, if they do and we run the table then all we have to have to win the division is for Tampa Bay to beat Atlanta or for Atlanta to drop to Detroit or the Giants.

We have to remember since the regular refs are back we have only lost at Denver and at Green Bay. This team can win out or at the worst I think we can only drop the Atlanta game if we play our best.

Well, it is the falcons, so a meltdown is very possible.

They could easily lose 4 more games.

Not only possible, but likely.

Interesting that Matty Ice picks the coldest part of the year to become Matty Meltdown. What the hell kind of ice is that?

Yeah frick pulling for the Falcons. If they lose the Saints would only be three games behind them and we play them one more time. Meaning the Saints would only need two other teams to beat them to pull even and pass them with the tiebreaker.

The minute you depend on other teams to get the job done, is the minute where you can't make the playoffs.

I know there's some extenuating circumstances and we started off poorly this year, but what's outlined in the OP shows that any of those teams losing will get us to the playoffs...and those teams are bound to lose. So don't worry about Falcons. Worry about us winning and the losing teams losing.

yep. can still go 10-6 with a loss to atlanta.

beat oakand and the niners then things look better.

who knows...we just might beat Atlanta again anyway!

if we go 9-7 we will need help.
