This game is totally badass.

While it took me awhile on how to tune my guitar

It's pretty cool how you can learn how to play songs like Free Bird. Anyone else play?

I didn't know about this but it looks pretty cool. I have been playing for about 8 years, haven't played in almost a year, but I plan on getting new gear sometime and playing again.

I am self taught and would often get frustrated because I was trying to play really difficult songs and didn't have the patience to take my time with it and quit for a while but something would get me back in to it, maybe this could be it.

check out some of the DLC. it's pretty legit. not to mention, that just added a patch a few months ago adding bass support.

can this be used to jam as well? Does it have amp simulation and effects and all that? I have a headset for my xbox so this would be pretty cool. Either way, my next setup will be software amplification with a good headset or speakers. My taste in tone changes so much that I will buy an amp and like it for a couple months and then my taste will change and I will want a new amp.

Im pretty sure it does. At least the best buy edition. It has various pedal types and stuff.

here's a gamespot discussion on the game. LINK /

I might end up getting this then. I want to wait and get a legit guitar though. I had a nice Jackson Pro series with an original Floyd Rose a few years back but had to sell it. I got a cheap Jackson last time and I hated it and the humbucker had NO tone and the single coils were very bland. I want really want a Fender Mexi Telecaster or maybe build a custom guitar.

I was thinking that as well. The guitar they sell with the game isn't as bad but it's okay for starters.

FWIW, I bought the PC version just to add custom songs.

how hard is it to actually learn everything? I've always wanted to learn how to play the real guitar. I'm pretty solid at Rockband (can play on expert on most songs)...I know that doesn't translate very well to a real guitar, but it's gotta be worth SOMETHING right?

Ehhh, not really.

My friend who is really great at guitar kind of sucks at Rockband.

it might be a good finger exercise to get 'em nice and loose, but it's nothing compared to Rocksmith. Rocksmith is legit.

Yeah, I was trying to play Hangar 18 by Megadeth it's not even close to the difficulty on Guitar Hero 2 expert.

This game is so amazing and has gotten me so much better at guitar than I ever thought I would be. I've been trying to learn Tom Sawyer today but my fingers are killing me right now because I hadn't played guitar in a while. I am so happy that this game came out, though.

Yeah, there is an amp feature that lets you mess around with pedals and amps to get a sound that you want. If you get a certain score on the songs in the game then you unlock the custom tone for that song to play around with in the amp menu. It's such a great feature because it sounds awesome in a pair of gaming headsets and you can jam late at night without having to worry about waking anyone up.

They just added bass support, but I think you have to pay extra for it unfortunately.
