But for Urban North-easterners and Californian Voters (UNCV) Obama would have been trounced. His margin of defeat in red states was huge. He was not even competitive in any red state except perhaps North Carolina and even there Romney got 54%.
It is a shame a relatively few states have voted to oppose the socialism and incompetence of Obama on the rest of the country.
No wonder there are rumblings of succession.

Don't forget most of the mid-west, Florida, and Colorado.

Yes but the margin of victory in total for Obama was very small there compared to UNCV states. A ten point win in Minnesota is nothing compared to a 10 point win in New York for example.

A lot of his success in Florida and North Carolina is from transplants from the North East. You might be able to say the same about New Mexico and Austin because of people from California.

Obama margin of victory in California and New York total 500,000 votes more than his national margin of victory. But for UNCV he would have lost worst than did McGovern.
