YEP!... running to the store now to see if there's any left!

I understand workers rights and the need to protect them, but Unions are no longer viable.

The good news is that if unions keep this up, people will start to question why they even have them.... and maybe WAKE THE FRICK UP!

re: No More Twinkies and Ding Dongs?

I was listening to the Ben Ferguson show yesterday and he made a good point.

If you are making twinkies, you don't really deserve to make a lavish living. Why be unionized?

You think kids say "I want to bake twinkies when I grow up!!"

If you are a baker at Hostess, you just aren't worth that much, I am sorry. Not trying to be mean, but do you honestly think you deserve $25 an hour plus benefits and retirement putting cream filling into a damn sponge cake? It's not like that takes a lot of work. How exactly can you work your arse off making twinkies?

I love when unions whine about corporate greed and how much CEOs make, but never seem to complain about how much their union bosses make who live lavish lifestyles and eat at the finest restraunts and fly around on private jets on the backs of union dues.

Visit any of the bakeries in NOLA or BR,, the machines used to make th product are huge. Everything is a product of machine not skills of a baker/pastry chef.

Sucks. My Uncle is a driver for them. All the drivers agreed to these terms a few years ago and took a pay cut but the bakers refused. Now he's unemployed at 50 something and taking care of his mother as well.

Anybody know someone who's hiring?

If your Uncle has a clean record he can get a job driving for an Oilfield Service Company. There is so much work between the gulf coast/Pennsylvania/Colorado/Montana

You can still get a free pizza from Papa Johns to sate the cravings.

Not to sound like Michelle Obama or anything but, good. All that cream filling isn't really digestible and just stays in your body and makes you fat.

I don't eat them and it's nice to see union workers losing their jobs.

I would agree with this...except 18,000 people are losing their job because of 5,000 union workers

and the other 13,000 voted and agreed to salary cuts and have continued to work...and now they get punished, too

Let the bidding for the name brands begin.

So there probably will be Twinkies and Ding Dongs, just under someone not named Hostess.

And most likely the winning bidder(s) will move production to the predominantly non-union South.
