Landry still went pretty high, 6th overall.

The chances of a career ending or threatening injury a la Lattimore are not that common for DE's. The 2 things you have to consider imo are: How long as he already been in the program. Landry and Dorsey did not redshirt. Montgomery and Mingo do, so while they have another year of eligibility, they have been at LSU just as long as Landry and Dorsey.

2) Its not so much that you could slide and lose money by being drafted later. Chances are that won't happen. But they would lose a full year of earning. That probably can not be made up by staying and being drfated higher.

Montgomery jacked his knee up in the past an you can tell he lost a step still, he is getting out of here ASAP for the money. He is already basically making good by speeches. Look at the thread where he is quoted talking about shep. Mingo should stay he still needs development IMO, he has nearly all of the physical tools to play any position in the front seven. IMO he needs to bulk up more to a solid 250.

Why do people keep saying this? The do have S&C programs in the NFL. If whatever team that drafts him thinks he needs to add weight, they will work with him to do so, just like LSU does with HS kids coming in.

Don't think it would, but that would be awesome if those words would sway them. You don't understand any of the background of some of these players; money is usually a big factor to them to help out their families.

I think 99% of us here who didn't grow up rich would take the money as soon as we could.

Plus, and I'm not saying this to sound elitist or anything, but a good portion of these guys have kids.

Mingo is going to project as an OLB in the NFL, not a pure DE...

That rally cry has some potential, but not for 1st round draft picks.

Mingo and Monty are gonzo. Too much money to risk. They are gone.

Reid is doubtful to stay. Although, he is the type of kid that might come back. Logan is doubtful, as well.

This might keep Simon and Minter from making the jump. But only because they could really climb up draft boards with another year.

Nope. Mingo and Sam will tell Mett that they'll see him in the league. Sam already had a season ending injury...not a chance he comes back. Mingo probably projects higher than Sam at this point.

Reid might come back, but it might be more to finish his degree (if he doesn't do it early). I'm not betting on it though.

Where is the link proving that he is going into the NFL as a OLB? maybe in a 3-4 defense where they consider the D-end a linebacker. He plays D-End, I am not saying he won't get drafted high and rake in a ton of money but the speed in the NFL isn't like in college. He needs more weight and power, Tommy Mofit can put weight on him and I he stays he goes from first round pick to the first pick. That's a difference of millions.

It's not "his team now", and Mett can't win anybody shite. If he could then why didn't he win the Bama game? Florida?

If Mett said that to those guys they would think he was a dick!

Read the OP and understand I'm talking about if he continues this type of play until the end. And you can't be that much of a dumbass to put the Bama loss on him.

Montgomery has too much to risk to stay. He's already had a serious injury in college. The others... sure it wouldn't hurt to try.

Why'd he stay this year then? He was a 1st rounder last year already.

He play's DE at LSU. He projects to OLB in a 3-4 in the NFL. I think at least 1/2 of the NFL is running a 3-4 presently.

NFL teams have S&C coaches as well.

He's projected as a top 10-15 guy, even first round, there's more room to fall than to go up.

Oh and with the first pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns select:

Right, if he didn't go undefeated as a starter his first year, it's not possible the following year.

No one in the history of football has ever improved.

Of course I'm not. He played superbly...and we didn't win. This refutes the OP's premise that somehow Mett can guarantee victory. He can't. That was my point. I thought it was obvious, but I didn't count on you...dumbass.
