If Mett and this offense continues on their current trajectory, and if Mett were to say this to our juniors thinking of early entry, especially Sam and Mingo, do you think this would make any difference? Do you think that would be enough to convince them to give it one more go, especially after getting so close last year and now having a competent QB running things?

Or will it still be "I've had my fun, time to make some money"? Does winning a title matter much now?

I'm not sure it would be enough to sway Mingo or Montgomery.....but I would think all the other Juniors would at least sleep on it.

Don't think it would, but that would be awesome if those words would sway them. You don't understand any of the background of some of these players; money is usually a big factor to them to help out their families.

Thank you for enlightening us on that one.

Montgomery has too much to risk to stay. He's already had a serious injury in college.

The others... sure it wouldn't hurt to try.

They have to do what's best for them now. I just want Mett to say it. Show everyone it's his team now.

Also, this doesn't seem to happen at lsu. Other schools have more success having juniors staying (Bradford, Barrett jones, Barkley etc). Not lsu for some reason.

Winning a title does not put food on the table, you can not fault guys, especially guys, like montgomery that have already been in the program 4 years.

No there are diminishing returns by coming back for your senior year if you are a first round lock. Way to much to risk.

Didn't Dorsey come back when everyone guessed he was leaving?

I can't remember, was there any question about Dorsey after his Junior year, or was he coming back regardless?

Depends on their draft grade. The way I see it is players leaving early opens up spots for others to come in and play early. That is very attractive for recruiting. Just keep the door swinging on both sides and everyone is happy.

Where were Laron Landry and Glenn Dorsey slotted to fall if they came out after their JR years? Was it that much lower to warrant coming back for their SR years? I could be completely wrong, but I seem to remember both of those guys kinda surprising everyone with their decisions to come back.

Paid off for Dorsey, other than playing Auburn.

Landry still went pretty high, 6th overall.

of course it matters, but as I'm sure this year has shown guys, the unexpected (suspensions and injuries) can happen to the team as whole, let alone to that individual player.

Sam's already had an ACL tear. Chris Faulk was looked at as a possible top 15ish pick in the preseason and now that's gone (at least for this upcoming draft). that's likely to factor in to guys' thinking.
