Anyone own one? I just bought a used one for 200 bucks. It is in great condition and is a 1976 model. No its not stolen. I have shot the Desert Eagle 44 automag but never a Ruger. I figured I could at least flip it for 275 bucks if I did not like it.

They kick like a mule but for that price I would have bought it without hesitation.

It has original Ruger grips where the logo is black instead of red and black. It has a stamp on the barrel that says made in our 200th year of liberty or something along those lines. I thought it was a good deal for the collection even if I never shoot it. I can always sell it later. You have to love friends who need money right away and are willing to part with guns I swear I get a lot of good deals from needy friends.

I have a Super Blackhawk. I love it but it really isn't all that practical to have.

Sounds like you stumbled on a sweet gun.

I'm jealous.

Ruger revolvers are the best you can get under $1200

I have one with a 14" barrel I think. Doesn't kick as much as my 6" 29.
I like recoil.

Do you have the Redhawk or whatever it was called, not a 6 shooter looking pistol?

I dont have it on me at the moment to take a pic. I will get some posted tomorrow night in this thread. I am not a revolver guy. I own a lot of semi auto stuff and a bunch of shotguns. I do have an old S&W 38 revolver but I dont use it. I just thought this Ruger was unique being it is a 76 model Blackhawk with the barrel stamping.

Looks identical to this one but with black grips. I did some research on google just now and it looks like they made a bunch of different styles. this is the only cowboy gun I own except for a lever acttion .308 Browning. All I need is some boots and a holster....and a hat....and a horse....etc....

I have the Ruger SuperBlackhawk, 10.5 in barrel.

I love it, and the kick isn't as bad with the longer barrel.

Shot 60 rounds through one just like that yesterday. It had a 7.5" barrel I think. Kicks very nicely.

Big holes in plywood.

Yes but can you take down a horde of walkers with it. I love revolvers and own 2 .357's. Looking at buying another one in a different caliber soon.

I'm not huge on revolvers or old action guns for self defense purposes, but there's something about those old guns that just give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

For example... Henry Big Boy

There's something about it that just gives me the chills.

Not a Ruger, but I bought a S&W snub nose 44 at an auction a few years back for $200.

That thing was kicked so bad, it was someone slapped you in the hand everytime you shot it.

I turned around and sold it for $350.
