Thinking about throwing a couple hundred in since I have learned you can bet with as little as $1.25. Just trying to get some info
Depends how disciplined you are, but I might suggest starting off with a little less, like $50-$100. I consider myself a pretty rational person but I was a total idiot and complete degen when I first started betting: betting on teams I knew nothing about just because someone said they were good, wagering very different units, chasing losses by betting more and doing stupid parlays.
I highly recommend starting with small bets and finding a system that suits you. For me, it's been tailing RAS in CBB, picking my spots in the NBA (usually home favs against bad teams who played the night before), and dogs in CFB. Seven is my limit to plays in a day and all bets in the same unit.
It took me losing hundreds and seeing my account shrink to about $8 for me to get my shite together. I took a few weeks off and have stuck to a system ever since. After two and a half solid weeks, gotten it to over $140 now (thanks in large part to RAS and a couple perfect Saturdays). By necessity, my unit was $2, but it's $5 now and will probably move up to $10 pretty soon.
Hopefully you can be smart and avoid the losing your arse part of my story

Anybody know if Murphy is playing for Florida tonight?

The Wisconsin men will play at 10th-ranked Florida tonight – but the Gators could be without three key players. Forward Erik Murphy has missed practice this week with flu-like symptoms that include headaches and nausea. He scored 15 points last Sunday, when Florida crushed Alabama State 84-to-35. Coach Billy Donovan says he’d like to get Murphy ready for tonight – but he’s got a lot to catch up on. Also, the Gators are without starting point guard Scottie Wilbekin due to an undisclosed suspension. And back-up forward Casey Prather is out, after suffering a pair of concussions in the last two weeks.

Kevin Brockway ?@gatorhoops
Told that Erik Murphy was feeling better and practiced a little last night. Will likely play vs. Wisconsin.
Kevin Brockway ?@gatorhoops
With Erik Murphy cleared to play, Florida will have bigger frontline (6-7 Yeguete, 6-10 Murphy, 6-9 P. Young) to match up w/physical Wis.

FWIW:
Stuckey ?@Stuckey2
Card is ugly and I dont have time to fully cap. Will be back to regular schedule Friday. Leans are Wisconsin & Western Illinois.

I'm not betting anything but if I had to choose, it would be Wisc and over.

Just read that essay you wrote up top. I was the same way as you my man. My account shrunk to $7.00. Built it up the past 3 weeks to about $100 give or take tonight. I still do my $1.00 parlays but because they excite me not because I'm an idiot. More times than not they lose, but lately they've been hitting on all cylinders. But youre right. Gotta be discipline and not bet outrageously different units and never chase losses.

Glad I didn't take the under, seems like ever shot is going in
re: NCAAB 11/14 Betting ThreadPosted by maclauer on 11/14/12 at 6:55 pm to tigerbaittrick
I still play a fair amount of teasers and parlays. The main thing is I don't put the majority or all of my available balance on one or two plays to try and make up for a shitty day. I actually lost the whole available account after the LSU/Auburn game when I put the whole thing on that, but I had two lines I took in the preseason that won for me to get me back in the game. Unfortunately, I ended up doing the same shite until a few weeks ago.

yeah i liked florida, despite their injuries and what not....wisconsin lost a lot and is overrated
re: NCAAB 11/14 Betting ThreadPosted by memphstigers23 on 11/14/12 at 7:14 pm to redfieldk717
Wisconsin always plays slow which is why I was liking the under but florida is playing amazing. Now just waiting on football to hopefully hit
