How much is a metric ton of carbon worth?

I'm wondering what people think California's carbon permits will go for today. Since it's up for auction, they could go for anything, although I'm sure the big producers have colluded a little bit to discuss prices.

The true worth of carbon permits is zero.
The market price could be "worth" $15.

When are humans going to be taxed by the UN for exhaling?

Recent price for verified credits through CAR has been in the $15/mt range. Predictions are upwards of $40 by 2020
