Never understood why the spotter's name isnt associated with this kill. Its just as much his as the damn sniper's.

I know the spotter spends plenty time behind a spotting scope.

Like hours.

Don't know if I could do that.

My brother was one and my dad got to attend the SEAL sniper school with him as an observer/guest. The stories I've heard are pretty damned astonishing.

The way they open the class with the instructor hugging a silhouette while they're all formed up down at the targets and ten rounds appearing in the head from instructors at 200 yrds are pretty eye opening.

"If you pass this school I will have no problems with standing here while you make that shot."

That will get your attention first day. Of course they shot a lot of .50. Stalking. ID range. All kinds of shite. You get out of that school a SEAL Sniper and you are one deadly animal.

Technically it has been surpassed but there is controversy about the shot. Somebody can correct me if im wrong but the new longest shot was taken by a british sniper using a .338 lapua. the controversy comes because this is so much farther than the effective range of the cartridge. The story is high mountain air is thinner making it possible some kind of crap. To bad rob furlong got in a bunch of trouble.
