No doubt, but we did kind of throw those 4 guys in for the first time together in a hostile environment against a good team.

I actually thought Danny Williams looked good defending in the second half. He had a terrible first half though.

We should never rely on Jermaine Jones as a winger ever again.

Video clips of goals would be much appreciated. I did see the first Russian goal and the Bradley volley that was sick as hell. I only was able to watch the first 25 minutes. We were getting thoroughly trashed at the time. A 2-2 draw sounds fricking awesome.

I want a lineup something along the lines of this. I think this would give us our best chance of giving Jozy service and having great finishing. The only problem is that we may have not enough defending in this group. However, it would be fun as frick to watch. I think our attack would be infinitely more creative and effective.

Howard
Dolo Boca? Cameron Fab
Bradley Williams or Jones?

I think Kljestan is a better option at this point to partner with Bradley and Williams. He's disciplined enough to drop deep and defend when necessary. Everyone talked about Jermaine Jones as this midfield destroyer in the mold of Essien or Makelele, but he doesn't really add much at all defensively. In fact his penchant for long runs up the pitch coupled with his horrible giveaways, kill us defensively.

We're better when Michael Bradley goes forward.

I think Jones has a "Imma do whatever the frick I want" attitude with the USMNT. I think we would be best suited with Williams (dedicated defender) Bradley (hard working, box to box) and then someone who can provide some creativity, whether thats Kljestan, Diskerud, me, Ben Lederman, I don't know.

We need to give someone service, but Jozy's going to have to figure out a way to have an impact in the meantime if he wants it to be him.

And JK has to find somebody else to play in defense. Seems like we have a lot better chance of finding a solid defender to replace Boca than we do of magically discovering a #10 somewhere.

Saudi Arabia vs Argentina is on GolTV. The feed is awful. It looks like I'm watching the replay of Maradona's hand of God game

The funny thing about Jones was that he seemingly played much better when we put him on the wing. I have no idea why we chose to do that, but he was somewhat successful making runs down the line. He's obviously not the guy you want on the end of that Jozy pass, but he made a nice run into the box and found some open space.

Much as the guy irritates me as a fan, Omar Gonzales should get a call up pretty soon.

Didn't watch the game but I read through the thread, and I am very glad to see Mix play well for the USMNT. We can't afford to lose this guy to Norway, and now that he played well, I am sure he will some call-ups in the Hex. Also glad to hear Gatt performed well, as did Chandler.

Some questions for those who watched the game

1) Was Boca's injury serious?
2) How did Klinsmann and Jozy interact in the game? Open hostility or dismissiveness? Relatively normal?
3) How was Aguedelo other than his assist?

Thanks.

1) Was Boca's injury serious?

Looked like a strained hamstring. They probably just pulled him as a precautionary measure.

2) How did Klinsmann and Jozy interact in the game? Open hostility or dismissiveness? Relatively normal?

Well Klinsmann gave this quote about Jozy in the postgame press conference.

quote:

I think you saw Jozy Altidore today was a handful. He gets a big, big compliment for his performance.”

3) How was Aguedelo other than his assist?

He looked lively much more involved than his past performances with horrendous Chivas USA. He may be an interesting option as a winger in a true Dutch 4-3-3, than as a center forward. Unless Jorge Vergara does indeed instituted sweeping positive changes at Chivas USA, I'd hate to see Agudelo's development stagnate at a terrible club. One of Hans Backe's more puzzling roster decisions at RBNY this year was to trade Agudelo for nothing.

More thoughts, I think jozy needs to not be a CF, at the very least with another striker up front with him, Boyd seems to do better as the hold up striker already.

I want to see a back line of Johnson, chandler, Cameron, Omar really bad.

Either Williams OR jones should be on the pitch, not both. Mix or Sasha or zusi needs to be the second and bradley the third of course.
