I'd imagine it could work if given enough time and the right conditions. The trick to distilling a contaminated mash/wash would be using tons of insulation to get almost no heat loss and going slow as hell. That way you could get the eth fraction off without bringing along too much crud or gross water with it.

Im not sure I follow you but I guess it could be possible with a reflux still instead of a pot still.

Im sure you understand the process of distilling so I am not going to try and talk down to you or anything - not my itent at all! everyone has different opinions on what works and some have had great success with what works for them!

Yeah most of my experience is industrial, but I'm easing into making hooch. I was talking about running a reflux still really slow, but I've never done that outside of small glass setups.

You may have mentioned it already but is there a certain yeast you're partial to? Will it make much of a difference in the final product?

I have used distillers yeast as well as regular old yeast from the grocery store -honestly no difference in yeild or taste. so while I still use the distillers yeast from time to time - I use redstar yeast at .79 cent a packet for regular washes.

how long does the cider/juice need to boil? until the sugar/cinnamon is melted?

will the alcohol/juice separate the longer it sits?

pretty tasty. glad i didn't use 2 or 3 fifths. i let it cool until saturday morning and then mixed in the alcohol.

it was definitely stout at first. saturday night i had a couple of glasses and it didn't seem as strong as that morning, but i'm sure different bottles i have are different proofs.

I noticed this being advertised on the Moonshiners show so I decided to look it up and find some. A store right down the road from me sells it. I bought a bottle Thursday and man it is good. Sipped some just on the rocks and added some to some sprite and lets say I got a little drunk Thursday night. Man it is gooood. Gotta go get a flask now so I can take a sip with me to the stand. This is pics of the second jar, had to go back Friday and get another jar for me and gotta take a couple back to Oak Grove Thanksgiving for some friends.
