“I understand that a lot of people in the USA may be unsure because they think I have said [I’m committed] in the past,” said Chandler. “All I can say is that I am clear in my head about the commitment moving forward. This was about me being ready to accept the responsibility of being a part of the National Team and everything that goes with it, and now I am ready. I hope I will get chances in the future. I am in 1,000 percent

It's like what some of the guys said in the other thread, until he is cap-tied, there will be doubts. Simple as that.

I'm at about 80% on believing him this time around, I still think if he got a callup from Germany in a few months at the same time as our qualifiers he would choose them though

That's how I feel, and I don't blame him at all. I would just like for the whole thing to be resolved

Since Jurgen is the coach, I feel like he'll let Chandler lead him on for as long as he wants to. He's a German so he holds a special place in Jurgen's heart. But hopefully this is it and we can expect to see Chandler in our next qualifier.

That's true, but I also think the only reason he's still around at all is because Jurgen is German.

I wonder if it's similar to how arsenal players used to complain that you almost had to learn French to understand conversations around camp, but ya know.. German and the us camp

So he won't be cap-tied if he starts tomorrow?

Stars have all the power. Look at what Kobe is doing in LA. It isn't because Chandler is German. It's because Chandler could be one of the top 10 players in his position, which is not exactly stocked with talent in the US or around the world, for the next decade.

And excluding Cherundolo, our only options for the outside backs are Lichaj, Fabien Johnson, and Spector.

I have no problem with him being added, and I hope he caps in a CONCACAF game very soon.

Are you saying he could be a top 10 fullback in the world?

Because I'm going with no way if so.

Yeah, I think there is a chance. Not right now, but in the next few years. And I think Fabien Johnson can be close to that although his ceiling isn't as high.

There really aren't that many elite fullbacks in the world. Not as far fetched as it sounds.

I'll just leave it at the fact that Arsenal has 3 fullbacks who are better than him.. And considering we are barely in the top 10 of clubs in the world..

It's probably the position with the least amount of top talent around.

Who are the three Arsenal players? Sagna and 2 others, but I'm blanking on who you're referring to. Arsenal has always had good fullbacks because the French have been stocked at that position like no one else.

Yeah, that's why they play for Arsenal. But you can't tell me that Chandler and Johnson are worse than Santos. Because they aren't.

For Keys:
1. Sagna
2. Gibbs
3. Jenkinson

I've never seen Jenkinson so I can't comment on him, but I was not expecting Gibbs on the list. He doesn't strike me as a special player. And Santos blows. I've watched that guy multiple times. The best part of the whole fake match-fixing scandal for Fenerbahce was selling Santos for a profit and getting a much, much better player at his position. Of course we let him go right back to Juventus, and they loaned poor Reto Ziegler out to Russia.

I didn't say anything about santos, my point is that if the 10th best team in the country has three that are better (not to mention Gibbs and jenks are younger than chandler) and taking into account that even slightly worse clubs will have one or two that are better there are probably 40-50 fullbacks AT LEAST that are better than him.. If he was even close to top 10 in the world don't you think Germany would have called him up?

I'm not saying he's bad, I'm saying that he's not world class..

He probably wants assurances about playing time from the Germans. In other words, he doesn't want to end up with some token caps against San Marino in Euro 2016 qualifiers to make sure he can't play elsewhere.

But he is behind Lahm (definitely one of the top 5 in the world) and Boateng
