I mean, It's bad he said it and all that, but it's idiotic to punish the sounders for the playoffs for it.

I disagree. You can't have this big anti-prejudice campaign, specifically mention homophobia, and not get slapped down with a suspension.

I don't buy into this "heat of competition" stuff. As my dad used to say, "What's down in the well comes up in the bucket." He could've said anything else there and had been fine, but why a gay slur? You don't call somebody that just out of nowhere, I don't think.

Not acceptable. He deserves this punishment.

In fairness though I think most people who say those two words are not trying to be derogatory towards gays, see the southpark episode about it for example (and don't come at me with that shite about morals from southpark etc etc, they actually have great social commentary mixed in with the crude jokes)

I think getting offended by anything is BS. However, if the MLS is going to do this "don't step over the line" campaign, they almost have to do what they have done against Burch and since MLS is a private entity, more power to them.

100% agree.

"frick you _______"

Can be filled in with "bitch," "count," "****," "pussy," etc. and have the exact same meaning. Nobody is literally saying "frick you because you like dicks in your butt."

Wow. "F.aggot" gets blurred out automatically. See the **** above. Kind of fricked up and hypocritical that it is censored on this site while equally derogatory words aren't.

There's no need to be a count about it.

Fair enough.

I don't get offended when anyone uses any of these words, but others do. It's like the John Terry incident: why did he say "black" in front of "f'ing c--t"? Why didn't Burch just call whoever it was another (equally derogatory) word besides that one? Just some things to think about.

And again, it's mainly because of the Cross The Line campaign.

If we still had to post on the MSB, this thread would be 20 pages long by now.

I saw a thread on the OT last night about what the average IQ was on each board. Ours was 100 because "gays have a higher IQ than most"

I'd venture to say that this board does have the most obscure literary/film references per capita, which shows a certain level of taste and distinction. At the very least, this board is the most civil, which says quite a bit about the other boards on this site.
